Okay, I got this idea from Shirley's post! She was discussing one of Cat's old amps, and we got into the discussion of who might have some of Cat's old guitars! So, the thought just came to me! WHO HAS CAT'S GOLD RECORDS!!! We know he received quite a few!
Peace,Vivian

Since he sold all of his belongings in England, why don't you put an ad in an English newspaper asking who has the gold records and guitars?

Vivian, A couple of years back I saw a guy advertising some memorabilia on John's site. Luckily he lived only a couple of hours away from me, and I went to see what he had.
I was so pleased to find he was selling one of the original 'Teaser & the Firecat' books, the one in different languages, and printed on really heavy card, like watercolour paper. He had a few original songbooks, and some 'Fantasy ring' fanzines. Everything was as new, superb condition. I was there chatting for a while, he'd been a fan of Cat Stevens since the 70's, but now obviously was in need of some cash, and was very reluctantly selling some of his collection. There was one thing he said he would never sell, then he showed me the gold disc. If I remember right, it was for 'Buddha & the chocolate box', he did tell me where he'd got it from, but I was just staring at it and didn't take in much of what he said.

So DJ, I am presuming that this was the ORGINAL gold record that Cat received for BUDDAH AND THE CHOCOLATE BOX! WOW! That is AMAZING! What I wouldn't do to see one of those-and alas, dream of owning!!!

Awww..nice story DJ. The Teaser book you are describing sounds like the one I bought off e-bay. I love it, except that those heavy stock pages are so 'stiff' I'm afraid to really press it open for fear of breaking the binding.
I had my own copy way back when...I seem to remember it was a hardbound book but I could be wrong.
Wonderful bit of memorabilia.

Thanks Ricky, but that's not what I had in mind! The one you are thinking of, was an actual CD that just happened to be lined in 24 carat gold! What I mean is thr REWARDS that Cat won for his records going GOLD! Maybe my terminology is wrong, but I thought they were called GOLD RECORDS! Yusuf auctioned them off, when he left the music business! I justwanted to know who has them!
Peace,Vivian
