It's nice that the petition finally reached it's goal of 10,000 signatures. But I find it really quite sad that we had to resort to a petition in order for the Rock Hall Committee just to consider Cat for a nomination. They should have considered Cat long before the petition was started. They didn't need a petition to consider Michael Jackson or Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Dion, Simon and Garfunkle or even Paul Simon, so tell me why is Cat different? Why does Cat need a petition just to get as far as the nomination process??? Sorry if I sound a bit upset, but I think Cat should have been recognised by the HOF long ago, and with out us having to place him under there noses. He should have been recognised on his own merits. I really do not think the Petition will make one ounce of diference. If they can recognise Paul Simon twice, once as Simon & Garfunkle and once for his individual music, then why does it take a petition to place Cat just in the running for a nomination? I know you are excited about the petition Vivian, and it is nice to see how many great Cat fans there are out there. I hope I am wrong in my thinking about the Rock hall and the petition. And if I wrong I find it quite sad that we had to resort to a petition, when no one else had to.  |

Hi Chris, we all understand exactly what you are feeling. I think we all feel the same way. Why did it take the fans begging everywhere for months to get him to the position of a petition. Believe me, many of us have become annoying at other forums trying to get votes for Cat. I have always wondered why Cat has not even been considered before. I have wondered about it for the last five or six years. I hope that it will make a difference and if it doesn't we should all band together in protest. Now I don't know much about how to do such a thing but if we sit back and say nothing Cat will never be acknowledged. He deserves it richly, much more than many who are already in the HOF. He is brilliant, talented, and to top it off he is a genuinely nice person. Unless it takes some sordid scandal to get into the HOF (Look at the guys in there who have evaded taxes and so forth), I believe Cat should be in there and if he keeps getting overlooked I believe, as his fans and friends, we should speak out.
But I am rejoicing because 10,000+ people out there agree that Cat should be in the HOF and those people love him by giving their support.

Believe me, Christine, I feel the exact same way as you do! But I also know that sometimes, one must get out there and fight with all their might for what is right! And if that means shoving Cat under their noses, then so be it! And YES, I KNOW that this petition is no guarantee of anything, but I will STILL keep shoving Cat under their noses until they are sick of me!

I am with you, there, A'isha! The HOF folks refused to take notice, so there was NO WAY I could let that rest! NO WAY! So, I made myself a pest in other forums, the Decades one and also the new Jukebox forum! And if they STILL refuse to notice Cat for his remarkable merits, I will continue to shove him under their noses until they do!

Well if this petition does not work, I have another idea! We could picket in front of the Hall of Fame! And lets do it in shifts, so that there will be a bunch of us DIEHARD Cat Lovers there [shadow=red,left,300]24 HOURS A DAY, 7DAYS A WEEK!![/shadow] We will drive them CRAZY until they get SO SICK of us they will HAVE TO put Cat into the Hall of Fame! Yes, I know, it is SO PATHETIC that it has to come to this, but if that is the way it has to be, SO BE IT!!

Oh my God Christine, not Bobby Sherman... Blech...I don't know if I could stand Bobby or Donny.... (shudder shudder)   And you know, we don't want those songs picked up by any of the newer 'boy bands'...You know how the music business loves their money. Maybe we should all just get together and sing some really bad songs....like that 'Telephone Man' song...hehehehe Hey, it would be fun, all of us sitting in Cleveland for days participating in a peaceful protest. It would bring back alot of those '60's' memories. Well since we will be picketing for Cat, We should play Cat! And that means ALL CAT! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with NO TIME OUT! And we will turn the volume up to FULL BLAST!!

Viv, that would make them delay longer because they will enjoy hearing the music so much.
"Who Let The Dogs Out"...ICK!!! Jan that would probably work. Or play that 'Feelings' song or that 'Don't Know Much' song by Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt. I hate those two songs...they irk me.
Hey, we could ask Roseanne to come and sing some songs. Remember her rendition of 'The Star Spangled Banner'
Or we can eat alot of beans and.....SHOULD I STOP? YES, I thought you would agree.
