Am I the only male around here? Not quite, Bob. Barney (crobarbie) will be joining us for dinner Monday night, and I assume on Tuesday. There are a few others as well - you won't be the only one.

I am going to the London show and would be interested in meeting up with others to maybe share a meal.....I will be arriving in LOndon early MOnday morning...staying in Hyde Park area and leaving early Wed morning to return to the states. Hi Ellen, Some of us are getting together for dinner Monday night, most likely at the Shaftesbury, the former Moulin Rouge. Check out the other thread on this sub-board. There are 7 of us so far, 8 if you want to join us. As Regii says, the more the merrier. Jane

Thanks, Sue! Great interview - I just love how at-ease he sounded and once again, how gracious he was about Dublin. I am with Regii - whether the Moonshadow preview is in the middle or the beginning, I am excited to see it all.

Sue, I'm getting that autograph! When I first joined Majicat, you seemed like "the" Majicatter to me- like a celebrity! I was so excited to be able to meet "SuzieQ" and Yusuf knows of you! Of course I want an autograph!
Regii - how funny would that be? To Yusuf: "Can you sign this photo of the two of us in your old bedroom???" Ha! I love it! All I can say is may the teenage girl in all of us female fans always remain - we have so much fun with it!

Thanks Gavin, For taking the time to inform us more of, what should have been, your best Yusuf, experience (so far)! Thankfully, Yusuf, has taken what happened at Dublin, as a learning curve and will now be leaving leaflets on the seats, so there will be no more confusion. That's as long as the members of the audience can read! (sorry couldn't resist that) I am going to the Birmingham and London concerts, I can't wait either!!! ;D Sue - I love that you couldn't resist! Of course, I have been called an obnoxious New Yorker... Trying to think about what photo from May that I can print out and get you to autograph for me in London... ;D Jane

Everything that Gavin wrote I can agree with.I was on concert in Dublin too and I can witness that. I just come home to Zagreb after being in Dublin and London and I am thinking about concert all the time. I like all of it very much even the musical.I think it will be sauces in London next spring(I so Billy Eliot yesterday and Mon shadow will be as good) But I agree.People come to listen and see comeback of a great star and expected to hear all his old hits and in stead of that some other people where singing versions oh Cat songs. I would much more like (and people around me too) that he song some more of his hits like Wild World,Lady DAbanvile,Hard Headed Woman,Oh very young instead of performing his musical so long.(I hope he will change that in next shows) For me,I had great time after few Guinness's ,singing all the time and making friends all around myself and that is most important, don't you agree???!!!! Yes, Soitis, I do agree! When I think about last May, I think about the times with all my new friends more than I even think of finally seeing Yusuf after 33 years! I am glad you enjoyed the show and came back home with great memories. Jane

I'm not sure the Shaftesbury will work for Sue, Bill and Regii - they will have their luggage with them and probably don't want to cart it around too much, not to mention just travel time to get there for them. Maybe we can have dinner there Monday night?
Here is what I am thinking: find a place in Kings Cross / near St. Pancras for lunch. When Sue, etc go to their hotel, the rest of us can make our way to someplace closer to RAH. Sue, Regii, etc can meet us there before the show. What do you think?
I don't know anything near Kings Cross - maybe Helen can help us with that? I can probably come up with a suggestion near RAH - I'll work on that this weekend.
No tickets fo me yet; maybe that little surprise will be in my mailbox today?

Sue - what time do you, Bill and Regii get in? Just trying to figure out how much time we will have at wherever we end up before you go to check in and freshen up.
I didn't know Joann was coming, so that's great news! Do we know what time she gets in or where she is staying?

It says so much about him that he comes out and speaks so freely about an event that was clearly upsetting to him, the "Moonshadow" performers and his (real) fans. He could have hidden away and just gone about the business of putting on the next three shows. Instead he came out and spoke from the heart. I think his message is balanced with what he could have done differently and saying in his own way, how foolish some were for expecting a Cat Stevens concert.
Makes me love him that much more...

Silent Sunlight, I agree with you. All day long I was angry and "fired-up" over all of this, so on the way I played "Peace Train" - very loud and then "The Wind" to ground me. Just now, I started reading one of the blogs and I almost started crying. I do believe that the the real fans will do their mighty best to make Yusuf feel loved and welcome in the upcoming shows! My hands already hurt just thinking about how hard I am going to clap!
For now, I sit here listening to the Majikat CD, letting today fade away and hoping that tomorrow is much better for all of us.

Don't you just have to love how jaded we all are? "Finally" as if we have been waiting weeks! In "the old days" we never even would have had a video, and now we want it immediately. We might be older but we certainly can learn some new tricks!
crobarbie - I am nominating you for MVM today - Most Valuable Majicatter! YOU ROCK today with all of the information!

I am SO SHOCKED by all I have read. I then made the mistake of going onto Facebook - ohhhhhh Lordie. Thank God for a few SANE people - who are posting positive things. These people, who attended, got to "preview" an upcoming piece of musical theatre !! How many of us would LOVE THAT? And since WHEN does an audience get to pick and choose an artist's playlist - let alone holler and sceam out WHAT they wanted in WHAT order using very tacky words? I have followed this man and is wonderful music, message, and spirit for 36 years. What I wouldn't give to have an opportunity to see him perfom live. What a shame ...... people can be so crass - and yes, I will say it - dumb !!! Yusuf - never stop. You came back and for that we are forever grateful. Don't let a few fools dampen your spirit and creativity. Peace all ...... thanks for everything that you all do. Nancy Nancy - loved how you told Etienne off on Facebook! With that "Enough!!" I could almost picture you! His real fans need to be vocal in their support right now so he know we outnumber the nay-sayers. This board is on fire today! I have never seen anything like it and it is really affecting my productivity at work! ;D

Thanks for the pictures, Regii! If I lived on that side of the pond, I might have gone to the Dublin show to see a bit of Ireland. Good to see the photo of you, too! See you soon! Jane Well, it's a good thing I wasn't at the Dublin show - I might have gone all "Hard-Headed Woman" on some of those people! Jane

I'm with you, crobarbie - 20 songs plus the musical and people were disappointed? I know this is mean, so forgive me, but I hope those who walked out and missed the entire second half of Yusuf performing realize (and feel) just how foolish they were. Yusuf doesn't need fans like that - he needs us!
This really has me worked up this morning - can you tell???

Yusuf should attend a Leonard Cohen concert in Dublin to see how it is done - a big band doing a 3 hour show giving the audience what they came for. Maybe what people came for was unrealistic. It sounds like alot of people were expecting a Cat Stevens concert. Well, he has not been Cat Stevens in a very long time. I am sure Yusuf is well aware of the show that Leonard Cohen put on, but Yusuf is entitled to do his own thing. Based on what I am reading about last night, I am not suprised; I would not have expected anything different based on what has been put out there. I am really confused as to why so many people were surprised about that. Did people think a preview of a musical would only be a few minutes? Again, sorry if I am being too grumpy on a Monday, but I honestly just don't get it. On the positive side, it is making me look forward to London even more and being with some Majicatters again.

It would be best to arrange something near to RAH, any suggestions? There are a bunch of places near my hotel, which is walking distance to RAH. Let me do a mental inventory when I get home tonight and report back. We could also go to the Shaftesbury which Gabi suggested. I think that is on the Piccadilly line which goes to the tube stop at my hotel, so that is another option.
