From Yusuf's SiteHelp Haiti The earthquake in Haiti is another major disaster for humanity; we all have some part to play to help the survivors. There are many trying and I am happy that my song, Peace Train, is among the anthems mentioned by the people behind WORLD HELP FOR HAITI. They are not collecting, merely encouraging people to donate to the following: United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund, Bill Clinton’s Haiti Relief Fund for Haiti, and the American Red Cross International Response Fund. I also know someone personally who has gone on behalf of Islamic Relief. So please help and do whatever you can: www.worldhelpforhaiti.org

Christina, you were asking for the play list from RAH... Here's Heather's post from " Majicatters reporting in!" Well I second what everyone else has said. A brilliant night and as Michelle said - it was like going back in time. The Cat was back. He was funny and seemed to be having a great time. I went to Liverpool also and think last night's show topped it. What a shock when he did the medley of "I Love My Dog"/"Here Comes My Baby"/The First Cut Is The Deepest". Gobsmacked to say the least. It was the highlight of the night. I wrote down the running order in the dark - writings all over the place but it is correct. Went as follows:- Lillywhite The Wind Where Do The Children Play Thinkin' Bout You Boots And Sand Maybe There's A World Oh Very Young - FABULOUS Sitting In This Glass World Bad Brakes Miles From Nowhere Fill My Eyes Roadsinger Morning Has Broken Midday (Avoid The City After Dark) I Think I See The Light Dont Be Shy - (Amazing) Wild World Peace Train Blues followed by Peace Train 1st Encore All Kinds Of Roses Moon Shadow I Love My Dog/Here Comes My Baby/First Cut Is The Deepest Tuesdays Dead 2nd Encore Father And Son Some of the people sitting around Helen and I seemed to be brain dead. Helen said "They must have won their tickets". They did not even clap and kept giving Helen and I dirty looks when we were singing and cheering. Boring Farts!!!! How could they have sat there with no response to him. Some people My fantasy set list would have included "Two Fine People", "King Of Trees", "C79", "How Can I Tell You" and "Maybe You're Right" although I know some of those are not suitable for him now but we can dream. It was great to meet up with everyone and it was a brilliant night. Let's hope we don't have to wait too long for the next tour. He seems to have the bug back again.

Autograph Collectors DailyThe singer formally known as Cat Stevens – Yusuf Islam, made a low-key appearance at an Islamic education conference this weekend in Toronto. Yusuf’s speaking engagement at the conference was being kept under the radar and inquiring media was instructed that Dr. Islam would not be doing any photo ops or interviews. A few astute autograph collectors did catch wind of the usually reclusive Yusuf Islam’s appearance in the city – his first in more than a decade in Toronto. The few collectors that managed to catch up to Yusuf were pleased with the experience. Dr. Islam was happy to autograph Cat Stevens albums, photographs, and at least one guitar – often adding inscriptions like “peace & happiness” before his signature. Yusuf has fond memories of playing in Toronto’s Massey Hall There was some talk among convention organizers that perhaps there could be a chance for Yusuf to pick up the guitar and perform. After all, Dr. Islam is only a few weeks removed from a massively well-received come back show in England. But that idea was quickly shot down – and when this photographer asked Yusuf if there was any chance we could see him with a guitar this weekend in Toronto, he mentioned that, “he didn’t even bring one.” I also asked Yusuf if there was any chance we might see him perform in these parts in the near future and Dr. Islam indicated, ABSOLUTELY and expects to do some touring in 2010.
Yusuf also mentioned he had fond memories of playing one particular venue in Toronto decades ago, but the name of the place escaped him. When I said, “you mean Massey Hall?” – Yusuf replied in the positive, “YES! Massey Hall. Wonderful place to perform.” and then expressed surprise to hear the venue is still open and said it would be great to return.~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ Tillerman Story- Liverpool

And speaking of the beautiful RAH, did any of our Majicat attendees take the time to attempt to 'check the math' of the folks referred to in those legendary Beatles lyrics of days gone by that claimed: "... now know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall..."? Nah! Somehow I have the feeling that all eyes were on Yusuf that evening! -Bud Yep, mine were anyway!!! Well, according to Wikipedia, it has the capacity for 8,000 people and has accommodated as many as 9,000. Not sure how many "holes" it would hold though I guess, it would depend on the size of the holes! LOL

Oysterman.....exceptional videos!!!! You did a fabulous job...the quality is awsome!! Thank you sooo much, and the fact that you caught "the glasses" flying off, well, that's an extra special treat! Suzie Q...thank you also for the pictures! The group shot of Noxshi is really nice...and that Yoriyos spoke to you first, ooooh special!! Love it!! Richina ;D PS I have to ask...has anyone else noticed that Yusuf has on the same outfit at every show?? That's what he wore in L.A. in May. Think maybe that's his "Good Luck" shirt?? Or is he doing it for film editing reasons? Just thinkin' out loud.... Bill, my husband, said the very same thing!!! Who knows, we may get that DVD after all!!!

W O W!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Oysterman. These videos are wonderful! A BIG Warm welcome to Majicat. What a joy it is to see Yusuf, again enjoying this as much as we are! ;D I can't add much more to what has already been said,. Yusuf, was OUTSTANDING! It was "majical" to watch him again. I had seen the show in Birmingham and was blown away then, but this time, he was even more relaxed and so comfortable with every part of the concert. The medley was an extra special treat! Just to put the record straight, about his glasses, he didn't throw them off, they fell off, because he was so into the music and got carried away in the moment, look at the very end of Tuesday's Dead, you will see what I mean! For me, there were tears and laughter along with a wonderful glow of just being there, with such a family of wonderful friends, full of love for Yusuf. Although, I didn't get to speak to him this time, the night was perfect! I did however get the chance to see Yoriyos and his band, outside, before going in to the hall, I hadn't realised he was walking by me, when he said hello, and come and gave me a kiss on both cheeks!!! He said, I hope you enjoy the concert. I asked him if I may take a picture of the group and here it is... NOXSHI I did take a few pictures of Yusuf, but they were mostly out of focus Here's the best of the bunch... YUSUF The day after we went to Helen and Peter's house for lunch, They have a beautiful home and made us feel so very welcome, Thank you for inviting us, Helen, your cooking was wonderful and your poor table was groaning with it all!!! I shall post some pictures later.

Link from Yusuf's Myspace page... LIVERPOOL DAILY NEWSMUSIC REVIEW: Yusuf Islam, Echo Arena Liverpool AS YUSUF Islam himself put it , he is “back 33 years after my journey through the universe”. As well as a physical journey, it was a deeply spiritual one, leading to a conversion to Islam, a change of name and the renouncing of his beloved music. His beliefs have shifted just enough to allow him to return to public performance, and he seemed a little surprised, yet delighted, by the crowd’s enthusiastic welcome on Saturday. The show started with a preview of Islam’s new musical, Moonshadow, with Chris Holland standing in for Noel Sullivan, formerly of reality TV winners Hear’say, who had bronchitis. As a work in progress, it had plenty of potential – an intriguing parallel universe setting, gradually engulfed by darkness; a daydreaming hero searching for a better world; and undertones of ethnic divides, which will hopefully be further developed in the final script. Giving some of Islam’s best known songs (Matthew and Son, Old Schoolyard and Wild World) the musical treatment brought out their strong melodic qualities. Islam’s own set was heavy on the greatest hits, but also included a number of his more recent compositions, which he asked the Arena audience to indulge him in performing. His voice had lost none of its unusual timbre, as he sang classics Morning Has Broken, Peace Train, Where Do the Children Play and, of course, Moonshadow. Islam had fantastic rapport with the audience, amused by the hecklers (“I love my dog? – no, that’s far too old”) and thanking them for spending so much money on their tickets, which he added would go to charity. He was rewarded with a demand for two encores – including the Beatles’ Long and Winding Road and Father and Son. As one member of the crowd yelled, we could have stayed there all night. Another link

Jane, Ellen is not attending. She fell ill. I am trying to figure out the ticket situation and may not make it to dinner as I need to be on my email and check with the hotel's front desk if I get calls to sort this out. I will do my best to make it, but if I don't I hope you understand. Thanks for putting it together! Of course we understand, I hope you get a buyer for the ticket. What a shame that Ellen, is sick It's so sad that she is going to miss the concert. Get well soon Ellen. Let's hope that we can meet at the interval, if not before. We are on row 10 seats 11 to 16 so not too far from you.
