You know I did notice he didn't specifially say hello Williamsburg during the concert. When I saw him in Cleveland 2 days before the Williamsburg concert. I specially remember Cat saying... Hello Cleveland! This is so funny. Coz.. have you ever tried to say "Williamsburg"? It's not as easy as it looks. I went there for a conference a couple of years ago (btw, I think I sat in the same auditorium that Cat played in, in '76! - I recognized it from the photos on John's site)... anyway, I had SUCH trouble saying "Williamsburg" (and "The College of William and Mary"), that sometimes I would just give up and shorten it to "Virginia". My l's mess up when I try to say it. I have to say it very SLOWLY or I flub up and sound like I need speech therapy. I don't understand how some people can say it fast. Maybe I should practice it three times fast. Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Williamsburg... Oh.. and Christine... I think he was very drunk when he said, "Hullo, Cleveland" He sounds drunk on the audio (on that CD you gave us at the Catfest... thanks again, btw!!) -

Oh.. and Christine... I think he was very drunk when he said, "Hullo, Cleveland" He sounds drunk on the audio (on that CD you gave us at the Catfest... thanks again, btw!!) - Lucy, two different concerts. the audio one you have is from the Public Hall, 1972..(I only wish I went to that performance) I was referring to the Majikat concert 1976 at the coliseum in Cleveland. Jan, I don't know why I thought you had attended that same concert.

... I would love to see the whole Granada Concert. Tuesdays Dead was just a teaser. I loved it. Oh, I agree completely, Christine! One thing that I particularly like about the Granada footage (on both the new DVD and the VBO CD) is how much more frequently he looks directly into the camera while singing. Dear God, those eyes! Well if there is footage of these other concerts-such as the Granada one, it seems that there just MIGHT be an entire show on tape, SOMEWHERE! I WANT IT!! I MUST HAVE IT! I agree, Cat looked and sounded so magical in that performance!

Joanne is correct, Cat would regularly add the name of the evening's location within the Wild World rendition. Those that are lucky enough to be able to listen to other '76 bootlegs please check, you will clearly hear Cat name the evenings location within the song. My belief is Cat actually forgot where he was! No wonder he walked out during the second show at THESSALONIKI !!! ;D Imagine trying to drop that into the song

The first few lines are played afterwards? I must watch it again and try and catch that! Now as far as the Boy with the Moon and Star, that's on the ABC special, if we can ever get that released. Not sure what you mean by the change in Wild World, though! Didn't notice anything there! Peace,Vivian No, he left The Sun out, and just played C79..... Fine way to pick a mother for your children! A junkie, but she's got a good figure and eyes of a color that defy description...... Re: Wild World....I don't remember him saying "Hello L. A.," or inserting anything about L.A into the song. Perhaps I was too awed by the situation to catch everything. But I agree that Williamsburg is a mouthful. He should have just said Virginia.

I've enjoyed all of it. Especially the interview. As for favorite song, I can't get Two Fine People out of my head. I wasn't really familiar with it before now. Which album did it originate from?

A junkie, but she's got a good figure and eyes of a color that defy description...... hahaha bhw, I thought the same thing, not to mention the medical problems that could result from a junkie carrying a child... but, I use to laugh and think ... (she's got a good figure by far) well I guess that left me out !! Anyway, I loved the first part of the song, (Sun) it's the one song, that I had wished he had elaborated more on, continued on with that train of thought, with out the C/79. Although I love the melody of the C/79.

one thing I noticed, he's very good on the piano, isn't he? errr, wasn't he, I mean.. I liked the way at the end of the song he turned his hands up to the side, so his little fingers were still touching the keys, before he took them off the keyboard. tres cool~! Yeah I noticed that too. Almost like a Zen thing -- the position one's hands would be in while meditating. I think some of these little affectations might have been for the camera. Maybe...or.....maybe not

I still haven't had the time to watch the whole DVD, but I have watched the concert now. Its fantastic to be able to see Cat singing, but while I've enjoyed it I've also felt very sad at times. It takes me back to my youth (so long ago) makes me feel old, sad he gave up but with his 'ego problem' maybe we should be relieved that he did before it was too late for him. I went to the Majikat concert here in the UK on 12th December 1975, it was held at what was a new venue then, Bingley Hall in Stafford. There was a problem I think with the heating/ventilation system which was noisy, Cat got very annoyed (understandably) and held things up while they tried to sort it out. They couldn't and it had to be turned off but he said he'd never play there again. Still it was a fantastic evening, he always gave great live performances.

It would be hard to pick a favorite song but I can pinpoint one of my favorite few seconds. The intro on the DVD to Hard Headed Woman, the first, oh maybe 15 seconds or so, is completely different compared to how the song begins on the CD's, or the vinyl album. Listen to it, then play HHW on a CD, it's so completely different, and very wonderful. Quite a moment for me when I first heard the song start I thought, oh wow a song I've never heard before, then it turns into HHW.
Tuesday's Dead would be my favorite as far as the live performance goes. I mean, isn't that a guitar string that breaks while he's playing it? I mean he rocks on that song.
Too many favorites. Just am still blown away by this DVD. When I went to buy it, I checked Best Buy, no go. Not even in their system. Then went to Circuit City and this nice 18 year old kid checks his "list" and says he doesn't see it. Then, as an afterthought almost, he says to me, "let me check this one bin of new DVD's we're putting out today", he paws through this huge pile, comes up with the DVD. He hands it to me and I look him in the eyes and I said "Oh I love you" which took him back a bit. Then I said, "I've been waiting almost 30 years for this so this is really a moment for me. " He seemed impressed.
Had a 60 mile drive back home before I could watch it. Whew.

Vivian and demogurl - don't feel sorry for me for the hour drive. DH and I are homesteaders, we have a couple acres and raise a good portion of our own food, have dairy goats, a 5000 (yes, 5,000) sq. ft. garden, chickens, etc. We live outside a huge city, DH commutes daily for his job. We love it here, it's our dream. To have a city that far away is a blessing to us! (Well, of course the recent gas prices make us wince!)

It's so difficult to choose a favourite song, but I love "Oh Very Young" with all those inserted photos, e.g., the grey cat - photos mainly taken by the other Cat, I guess. But I also love the cheerfulness of his "Banapple Gas" performance combined with the video, and the energy and power of "Tuesday's Dead". I just love the interview - it's very touching. Yusuf is so warm-hearted, kind and relaxed. Also, I find Cat very cute - as always when he's embarrassed - in the special feature version of "Tuesday's Dead", when he gets into a tangle with the word 'irrelevant'. And another language matter... When I listen to "Lady D'Arbanville", it sounds to me as if he was singing with a heavy German accent... ;D "Zis rose will never die, Zis rose will never die." Love, Sanna

I have noticed that in the earlier Old Grey Whistle Test footage, CS looks straight into the camera. Perhaps it's because of the more intimate nature of the studio environment. In the Majicat Tour he seems more aloof somehow.

That one of Cat singing Tuesdays Dead in the Granada concert, has him looking right into the camera. SIGH!!! Peace,Vivian

Cat must have felt closely watched by the camera. I can imagine that was really intimidating! It must have made him shy and a bit uncertain. *** How could I forget the wonderful Teaser & The Firecat ~ "Moonshadow" animation as one of my favourites?! I LOVE it! It's absolutely beautiful! Love, Sanna

Jenna,
I'm with you. Of all the songs in Majicat, Two Fine people is the one that most impressed me. Maybe it's because I didn't know it before, however it really speaks to me.
Best,

I have been reading this thread from the start, waiting for my DVD to be shipped out from the UK..........and finally I have it!!!
What an incredibly overwheming, experience of a lifetime it has been to watch this wonderful concert! I have so many emotions, it's hard to put it all into words.
Three of my "top 5 songs" were on the show......Tuesday's Dead, Lady D'Arbainville (both fantastic versions) and Sad Lisa which was definitely my FAVOURITE! I particulary liked the way Alun Davies was featured during this song too, I really had so many goosebumps it got 11/10! Sadly Into White and How Can I Tell You were not on this one, but believe me I'm not at all disappointed.
I loved Cat's lime green sneakers he wore.......does anyone know if they were "Kickers"? They were a definite fashion statement back in the 70's. (Mine were 2 tone chocolate/beige.)
Without a doubt the Tuesday's Dead from the Granada concert is such tease......surely there must be more of the concert SOMEWHERE! (I'm with you on that one Christine!!)

I've finally managed to watch the whole DVD ;D and it's wonderful. I just love the interviews and the special features. The 1971 performances of If I Laugh, Maybe you're Right and Tuesday's Dead are fantastic , thats the Cat I knew and loved, he is singing from the heart and you can see he is still enjoying it all. Of course I loved the concert too but theres something different about his attitude, can't quite explain what I mean. All in all a fantastic buy, goodness I might even need to buy a DVD player now, it was hard work watching on a PlayStation 2 player.
