I can't believe they refused him entry, he is probably the most peace-loving guy that I know of. It's outrageous! btw, long time no speak. I was passing by and I thought I would say hi to all the lovely Cat fans

Hi Gizmo, welcome back! I can't believe it! I'm very sad that Yusuf - although he is highly acknowledged, e.g., by HRH The Prince of Wales, who is a representative of the UK, and by Nelson Mandela, although he has been honoured with the World Social Award by Mikhail Gorbachev, although he supports peace and tolerance, and although he has founded Small Kindness and other charity funds - is treated in such a humiliating, prejudiced and slanderous way! Love, Sanna

I wonder just what the heck it is. If someone puts something on eBay to sell, they gotta deliver the product. Interesting. I wonder who is behind it.

From the auction:
This auction is a complete joke.. and You will receive no merchandise. This auction is done in political protest and all proceeds from this auction will be donated to Small Kindness
Our Small Kindness charity is working tirelessly in various countries bringing vital emergency aid and humanitarian relief to war-affected families and victims of poverty and natural disasters. With your help we can make a real difference and bring about positifve change to the lives of countless children, women and men of all ages. Details of some of the many projects that we have already initiated along with financial reports explaining how money is spent can be seen at the Small Kindness web site. Small Kindness is a UK registered charity (no. 1079579) and associated with the United Nations.

I thought it might something real and good, but didn't know that eBay would go for something like that. And, there are some sick puppies out there who would put something like that out there just to be disgusting. Wasn't sure which category this feel into. I hope you raise lots of money for Small Kindness.

Excuse me, but this is still not funny to me. It is an interesting political commentary. One with a great deal of effort put into it.
I wonder how you make sure the money goes to Smallkindness? I wonder if Smallkindness is aware this has been done for them?
I would donate direct to Smallkindness rather than bid.

Excuse me, but this is still not funny to me. It is an interesting political commentary. One with a great deal of effort put into it. I wonder how you make sure the money goes to Smallkindness? I wonder if Smallkindness is aware this has been done for them? My point is that Vivian thought that this was disgusting, and didn't find it one bit funny until she found out that it was to raise money for Small Kindness. Like Turan, I wonder if Small Kindness knows that this was done in their name. I do not believe that it is legitimate. Would Yusuf say all of this if it were legitimate? Come on! The Box Office Info says: 1. "The Guantanamo Bay Ticket Office accepts VISA, mastercard, Discover, American Express, Cash and oil!!! 2. "Guantanamo Bay is nit [not] wheelchair accessible. If you are handicapped, your screwed"!!! ~~also notice the misspelling of "nit" instead of "not". 3. "The following items are NOT allowed: Alcohol, cans, bottles, ice chests, picnic baskets, lawn furniture, cameras or recording devices, large blankets, large backpacks and free speach."!!! ~~ also notice the misspelling of "speach" instead of "speech". 4. and then it goes on to say: "There are various stations that sell snacks, sandwiches, beer, soda, juice and water!!! Come on! I see that this auction is a complete joke and I don't appreciate anyone doing this to insult Yusuf Islam to make him look bad. For shame! And some of you don't see anything wrong with this? You don't see anything wrong with using a legitimate charity to mock Yusuf Islam and ruin the reputation of his charity? I hope that this is brought to the attention of Small Kindness and Yusuf so that he may take action against this furiae-interactive jerk. No, it's not funny! Yusuf has said that he tries to stay out of political issues. This can't be the work of Yusuf or Small Kindness. Oh, Yusuf, it is so disgusting that some people could think that you would do something like this. Oh, my goodness! How easily some people are fooled by jerks. I would donate direct to Smallkindness rather than bid. Indeed! Don't give any money to this jerk. If you want to support Small Kindness, then give it directly to SK.

Excuse me, Faithful, when did I EVER say it was funny, even after I found out funds allegedly were going to Small Kindness. I never said any such thing, so don't put words into my mouth. Gee, Vivian, Who's putting words in your mouth? When did I ever say that you said that it WAS funny? RE-READ my post please! You did say that you didn't find it one bit funny and that is what I said. See your post number 34, please: "I don't know who is responsible for this, but this is discusting, and I certainly don't find it one bit funny!" Now compare it with what I said, "My point is that Vivian thought that this was disgusting, and didn't find it one bit funny until she found out that it was to raise money for Small Kindness." I didn't mean that you found it "funny" when you found out that it was for SK! I meant that you changed your mind about the auction from what you thought about it before you realized that it said that it was for SK. Before you read that info on the bottom, you thought that it was disgusting and NOT funny. I believe that you were right the first time. Why would you think that Yusuf would do such a thing? It is in poor taste. I believe that Yusuf has more class and respect than that. And I did send this to Yusuf's attention. It makes me sick that people would do this to him, especially when he was questioned for supporting terrorism. He doesn't need all of this stupid crap. Leave him alone, people!

Indeed! Did you read the whole thing? And you believe this was the work of SK? LOL! It doesn't have to be the work of Small Kindness personnel for Small Kindness to get the money. Could be it's someone who's annoyed at what happened to Yusuf and this is a way of making a statement and raising money for SK. I don't particularly care for how he/she/they went about making the political statement. I thought it was in poor taste when I first saw it, I still think it's in poor taste. But free speech doesn't always have to be in good taste. Having said all of that, if indeed the goal is to raise money for SK, I still hope they are successful. I can live with the poor taste within the law for a good cause.

Could be it's someone who's annoyed at what happened to Yusuf and this is a way of making a statement and raising money for SK. That's what I feel, but I also fear that it may hurt the reputation of SK. Some people may give donations to SK through this, and that's okay, but it may also attribute to people thinking negatively of Yusuf and SK by its lame joke. All-in-all, I don't think that it is legitimate and that is why I did report this to Yusuf. I don't particularly care for how he/she/they went about making the political statement. I thought it was in poor taste when I first saw it, I still think it's in poor taste. But free speech doesn't always have to be in good taste. That's why I said that I believe that Yusuf has better taste and better morals than to do something like this. If SK benefits for this, that's fine. But I see just as much insult as I do benefit. It can go either way. Why would Yusuf want to participate in something done in such poor taste? It's not like him, as far as I understand and respect him. Having said all of that, if indeed the goal is to raise money for SK, I still hope they are successful. I can live with the poor taste within the law for a good cause. As long as the money does go to SK, that is okay. At least they did give the link to SK. I just hope that people willing to give to SK will do so through SK and not this auction. It's much better, as Turan stated, to give donations directly to SK and not to this lame auctioneer.

All-in-all, I don't think that it is legitimate and that is why I did report this to Yusuf. Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I don't think the situation is as dire as all that. Vivian already ran it by Zafar. Bad taste and bad morals don't necessarily go hand in hand. I don't think it was an immoral thing to do, unless the money doesn't go to Small Kindness as adverstised. Eventhough I don't particularly care the *way* he/she/they went about it, I'm willing to give him/her/them the benefit of the doubt and assume any money generated goes to SK.

And how do you claim that this was clearly in support of Yusuf and SK? How do you know who this "furiae-interactive" dude is and his intentions? Who gave him the right to use Yusuf and SK in this way? Again, some of us are willing to think the best of this person regardless of his/her approach. And when a *name* - individual or company, etc. - is out there, it becomes fair game. When the intentions of the user are deemed negative then the situation is dealt with. I'm willing to assume no evil intentions in this situation. Who knows, maybe Yusuf will feel the same way. He's generally a positive person.

Kurt Nimmo is on the ball! Below is exerpt posted today. www.pressaction.com/news/weblog/full_article/nimmo09232004/An Open Letter to Yusuf Islam[/b As it now appears, the Bush administration denied you entry into the United States for two reasons: as a public relations ploy in an effort to seize control of airline passenger lists (more or less under the control of airlines) and also portray a famous Muslim and peace activist as a terrorist in support of Hamas.
In regard to the first, the Bush administration, under a recommendation put forth by the September 11 commission, wants to centralize airline passenger lists in an all-encompassing database and thus deny more people permission to travel based on political and religious affiliation. In short, they want to restrict the travel of their political opponents.
