Thanks for sharing that butterfly. I love the song and that really is a nice montage. One of the comments said that Cat wrote the song back in 1968. Is that true?

Hi, Anette! This is a wonderful video. The montage is perfection! Did you notice the comment about who created the montage?: ". . . the credit for the blended Cat/Yusuf pics go (sic) to Joanne at JMC Design." Anette, you may recognize JMC Design from one of your previous posts: Re: New YouTube video « Reply #59 on Sept 11, 2007, 6:36am » I know, this is nothing new, but I like this link so much. It's a link from a member of Majicat, isn't it??
www.jmcdesign.org/csyi/video/cat_stevens_and_friends.html JMC Design is the website of Majicat's own HardheadedSofthrtd (Joanne)! Wow! Thank you for sharing your impressive talent, Joanne! And thank you, Anette, for finding these videos and sharing them. ~Sun~

This is a wonderful song from "Tea for The Tillerman". It is the video of "Father And Son", where Cat plays his favourite guitar, the black Gibson. I read, the old man in the video should be the tillerman?? I don't know, if I am right?? Father And Son Video

I always thought the old man represented the father - "look at me, I am old, but I'm happy . . ." But I don't know. Isn't the tillerman the guy who steers a boat? Does anyone know who Cat meant by the tillerman? Yes, I believe that's Cat's black Gibson Everly Brothers J-180 with the star inlays (the one that got stolen). ~Sun~

Yusuf's original name, derived from Georgiou, is from the Greek "Tiller of the soil". I only know this because of the origins of my name! So quite possibly how the Tillerman came about.
Have a fabulous weekend and keep shining.

Have a fabulous weekend and keep shining. George Hi, "Georgie!" Thank you for the explanation -- it reminded me that "geo" means "earth." So, your name is in good company! BTW, my grandmother's name is Georgina! "Tillerman" still bugs me, but I agree it's possibly related to tilling the earth -- though the guy on the cover of Tea for the Tillerman looks more like a sailor than a farmer to me. I also wanted to mention about the black Gibson with the star inlays -- Yoriyos (yet another "Tillerman") is playing a star-studded guitar in The Pied Piper (Very visible @ 2:14-2:19). Could this be a modern Everly Brothers J-180? I hope you have a great weekend, too, George! ~Sun~

Man, that is the E-type Jaguar of guitars! What a beauty. I remember an interview with the erstwhile Cat, where he spoke lovingly of his purloined J-180. It's actually great too, seeing the Everly's put it to such great use.

It's actually great too, seeing the Everly's put it to such great use. It does look like it, Kristian. And it looks like Cat's guitar in the Father and Son video. Until you just mentioned the tortoise shell pickguards, I thought it was Cat's fingerprints all over the guitar! Thanks for the link - the guitar is beautiful and that's a nice little slideshow. Please forgive the slight digression, but, oh, I looooove Jaguars! Back to the subject at hand, do you know where the interview can be found, George? ~Sun~

Thank you, Anette. These are wonderful, short videos of Yusuf at the Adopt-a-Minefield Gala. Your other post in the "Cat Concert" thread drew my attention to the following post from George, which is just above yours, and which refers to an article describing Cat's and Alun's 1979 trip to Bangladesh: You are right Uraguayo, after the huge tours Alun and Steve/Yusuf went full circle and did some small charitable gigs together. There's nothing recorded as far as I know. Then there was a short break for nearly 30 years! Here is a related article which is a moving account and there's some photos of a concert in Rangamuti: www.majicat.com/articles/Dutchmag.htm According to the article (which was graciously contributed by George Brown!), Cat and Alun saw, among many terrible things, a particular child with no legs. Here is quote from that article: As we arrived that evening at the airport, we noticed in one of the sheds the child without legs. Cat looked at him for a long time. He could not make a decision. He took out his wallet and gave him a hand full of change. He just lifted up his eyes, then again there is the disconsolate desolation in those brown eyes. On the steps to the plane, Cat said, "I will never lose that sight."I can't help but think that Yusuf must have indeed remembered that child, and all the others without limbs, when he and Alun performed, more than 25 years later, at the Adopt-a-Minefield Gala, especially, Where Do the Children Play. Yes, George, this is truly "full circle . . ." ~Sun~
