News from Myspace
So up goes Peace Train, the most requested song, and up goes a little gem you might not know of....
"Was Dog A Doughnut?" was released in 1977 on the album Izitso. It is said by some to be one of the earliest electronic records ever made. Featuring drum programming, Moog synthesizers and the classic dog barks which would later become a regular feature of electro records, it is a futuristic disco gem recorded by an artist usually known for his folk music. oh...and Chick Correa played on it too.
Now onto the news of the NEW website. It's done...yes it is....just a few tweaks here and there, the amount of content will blow your mind. full of videos and diary extracts....dont worry, we will tell you when we'll launch it. It's not long now.
Did you hear Tea For The Tillerman was released on DVD? (in the UK I think...it will be released in the US when the deluxe version of Tillerman comes out)
A Deluxe Version of Tillerman??? YES.... and a Deluxe Version of Teaser....come on and let the good times roll...will be released in the fall (Sep/Oct) with lots of rare demos and live tracks.
And if it couldn't get any better it just did...Yusuf is just finishing off his next record. Paul McCartney, the Legend, popped round and put some vocals down for one of the tracks.
Excited?
oh yes

WOW !!! sounds enticing.... Y and Macca? Ooh! this'll bring me out of my cave, I think. But I'm confused -- is this info thru YI's MySpace or CS's? Coz I dont see it on Y's. (How strange that Yusuf continues to have operate under two names/entities.) Nice to hear Dog/Doughnut again! (OK,now I see the info is thru the CS MySpace).... Thanks for the alert, butterfly.

I'm positive it will be worth the wait.
After his birthday, things seem to be really moving fast, making the heart of MAJICAT beat again louder on this site.

Sir Paul McCartney Duets With YusufA very special recording session took place in London recently when Yusuf invited Sir Paul McCartney to sing on a new track, entitled ‘Boots & Sand’. The song was written by Yusuf about the “No-Fly List” saga when, together with his daughter, he was refused entry to the USA in 2004. Drawing on diametric influences from Nashville and Liverpool-rock sounds, Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss and Terry Sylvester also feature on what promises to be a classic. Yes!!! Finally the new site is running. Go there NOW : www.yusufislam.comEnjoy it! Ale.

It's beautiful! There are a few glitches, as should be expected in anything so new, but it's very impressive so far. Can't wait for the bazaar to be finished!

With watching the Olympic Games ceromony today, and getting all emotional, I nearly missed the launch of the long awaited new YUSUF site. Two great events in one day is too much, but I THINK I can take it. My heart is pounding, my head is spining with excitment. I have seen a small fraction, and I can say it's coming alive, right in front of you, and ready to grab you, and take you into his new home. I LOVE it. Choosing the 8 / 8 / 2008 as a launching date, just a coincidence, I don't think so. He was into numurology once upon a time, and I think he still is. This Chinese believe this is a very lucky day, and I hope this will bring good health and more happiness to Yusuf, his loved ones, and to all us Majicats who will be visiting the new site. And the new RED ROOM, coincidence, again I don't think so. Again this colour for the Chineses is a very positive and good luck colour. Wishing all the best to Yusuf, and to a new begining!!!!! What a lovely 50th BIRTHDAY present for me!!! ;D Just joking

I just registered, and went into the Red Room and I'm having alot of fun going into these moving and sounding new icons. I felt like a small child trying to catch those floating bubbles in the 101 Dreams. And how about the 1974 interview, in his own Japanese garden, WOW!!! That was a first time for me. Can't wait to see what's going to be behind the Peace Train icon.
Everyone must be glued to their screens. They're probably on fire by now.
I think I'll be up all night. There's so much new material, that I keep going back, over and over the new site. Great way they set up the timeline.
Alot of love and effort must have gone in to set up the new site. A job well done. BRAVO!!!!!
Does anyone know how much Yusuf was involved in the set up. It's amazing how he manages all his commitments. I should spit on the new sight and him ( don't get me wrong, but that's what we greeks do, to protect them from the bad eye and so nothing will go wrong ).You might think its funny, or disgisting, but that's what we do. So here's three spits to Yusuf and the new site and all his new ventures.
I don't think you can go onto the message board via this site yet, or I have not worked it out yet. Does anyone know?

Look up in the top right hand corner of the screen. It should have your name. If not, you are not really logged in. Hope this helps

I joined on Friday and have been enjoying the content immensely! I guess I am not the most "tech-savvy" person in the world because I always login incorrectly. I keep forgetting to click the arrow next to my password - I click something else and then of course I am not really logged in.
There is a great photo gallery under "Life." The last photo in the gallery is a photo of Yusuf taken in 2003 that, to me, is the "Teaser and the Firecat" photo 30 years later. His body stance is the same, and his eyes have that same intensity, just older and wiser. Not sure if that was planned (I doubt it was) but the similarities struck me immediately. Anyone agree?
There is lots of good stuff on the site and with the promise of more to come, I am sure we will all be spending much time there.
Enjoy!
Jane

Monty, from my understanding the tabs section will be Yusufs original tabs, written out by Yusuf and/or people working for him on his website. So, I guess you can say they will be the official tabs. While the tabs here are by his loyal and devoted fans such as DJ, Kristian, Jacky, Gino.

LadyH and Juliette, after you register, you are not automatically logged in. You have to go back on the login/register page and login before you can see the contents of the red room.

It's Juliette again
Problem solved!!
My son had a good look at the new site and thinks my Adobe Flash was out of date so he re-installed it and the videos and pictures have come up.
Workaholis 1 - Yep my name has come up on the top right for the first time.
I know I am useless at computers but thank goodness I can see the site properly now. Haven't had chance to look at it properly but looks like I am up and running.
Thanks again everyone for your help.
Much appreciated.

Ah, I see there IS a Chinese Whiskers section. Good! Glad to see that brought over from MOL. www.yusufislam.com/faq/Thanks for pointing that out. Concerning this question: Oh and please believe me, I don't want to start a debate about it, just a few observations: I am in a way relieved and glad to see that he's addressing that "Hypotheticals" UK program, of which snippets appeared on YouTube a few months back, until they were removed by Yusuf claiming copyright on them. That action didn't look good at all at the time. But I am happy to see him partially take the wrap on this, sort of speak and taking some responsability. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Didn't He Want to See Salman Rushdie Burn?Because of imaginary scenarios set by courthouse TV interviewers, in 1989 I was drawn into making stupid and offensive jokes about Rushdie on a program called, ‘Hypotheticals’; however they were meant to lighten the moment and raise a smile – as good ol’ British sense of humor occasionally is known to do – unfortunately for me…it didn’........................ ........."I foolishly made light of certain provocative questions."..... ........Criticize me for my bad taste, in hindsight, I agree......... ......Certainly I regret giving those sorts of responses now. ..... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He goes on to say that the final edit of the show was to the disadvantage of mainly the Muslims that were invited and who gave comments. Takes a big man to admit he regrets some of this stuff and well, he just climbed a few more steps on my admiration scale. He has obviously evolved as a human being like most men and women do. And concurring with the late Zaki Badawi, I'm glad he is much more grounded now and has taken his distances from radicals. This kind of just MADE MY DAY!

On a lighter note, I love the new website features. Love that pix with Rowan Atkinson and well, other stuff at well. It's a little thin as far as content goes, but hey, it's not Majicat.com after all. However, I am not too crazy about recycled stuff from cs.com -- I hope it won't become common practice. And I do hope that the message board there will be "moderated", really "moderated" and not invaded by apostles of (pseudo) free speech without responsability.
