Not mine...the dress I'm thinking of wearing doesn't have pockets. Nope, no fringes either.... But it does have a bit of a 70-s flair to it

I keep having this image of Vivian curled up in a carry on back pack. Can you imagine the looks... "Excuse me, my carry on luggage needs to use the bathroom." And then the headlines... 'CATFAN CAUGHT STOWED AWAY IN LUGGAGE OF CONSPIRATOR' story at eleven. ;D Turan

Well, this topic of what to wear seems to be a bigger issue than I thought... looks like with all the excitement of planning to go, it was something most fans have just begun to consider. I know it's always important wherever you go, but with it being such a prestigious occassion to see Yusuf at The Royal Albert Hall it sounds like a little panic has set in. LOL Maybe, just maybe, the skin tight Prom dresses might not be quite the thing to wear on this occassion. LOL Seriously though, I don't know what anyone else thinks, but there will probably be a reasonable contingent of non-Muslim Cat fans going from around the globe, although I still imagine the majority of the audience will probably be Muslims. I was wondering if any Muslim members at Majicat could offer any advice for what kind of clothing might, or might not, be appropriate for the non-muslim fans to wear for this Islamic event.

Love to you all x Hi! I was thinking/hoping we could organise a pre-show get together (dinner) somewhere near The Hall. Us out of towners are going to have to eat somewhere But first, need to finalise travel plans, hopefully this week...

Ah about what to wear...
The show is open to the general public so I don't think there's any reason to be overly concerned. After all we're only representing ourselves.
Personally my approach is... I'm going to 'dinner and a show' rather than a concert. I had been thinking of wearing a pantsuit but have settled on a dress instead mainly because it packs smaller and is more wrinkle free. (NO not the prom dress, Sillies).
Think theatre!

Well if I were able to go, I would probably wear something similiar to what I wore to Yusuf's lectures! A nice pair of jeans that were not too tight, and a long sleeve blouse! I did wear one of my Cat T shirts over the blouse, but for this, I might leave that off! for shoes, I wore a nice pair of tessis shoes! Women might be asked to wear a scarf, but I am not sure about that!
Peace,Vivian

We girls just have to talk wardrobe before any big event, it's genetic I think, hehehe. DJ, as a Muslim woman, I appreciate your consideration. I think whatever you [all] decide to wear will be perfect (well maybe not the skin tight prom dress, but that's already been voted out, too uncomfortable to sit in all night, hehehe). Heck, I'm still trying to decide what to wear myself. Looking forward to seeing all the Majicatters, Kim

Anytime I have a really important meeting or have to do a presentation, the first thing I'm thinking about is "what will I wear?" Even before I decide what I'm going to say...haha! Not that I'm fashion obsessed or anything, I guess it's something that is just alot more fun to think about .

Colleen and I are shopping online right now. I think I found a colorful jacket to wear. Of course, after I buy the jacket I won't have any money left to go to the concert, hehehe.

This is just a thought. I am sure Yusuf will be appreciative of his loyal fans traveling so far to hear this concert (and even those who live in England). It would certainly be a wonderful gesture on his part to meet, personally, with all of you for maybe 30-45 minutes before/after the concert to speak with your group privately, and sign personal autographs for each of you.
Does anyone know any of his close associates, who might arrange such a meeting for you?

I AM fashion-obsessed, and that IS the first thing I think about! After all, it's a matter of "presentation", if you will...! The right presentation for the right venue... ;D What a great time you all are going to have! ;D

I'll be wearing a light yellow-green,long sleeve, 3 button Henley top, with a blue velvet vest over green high-waisted-pants with big blue stars all over them, topped off with a big blue velvet scrunchy top hat, tilted just right. (Jen just pick me up at the curb!!Which, if we don't find a hotel soon is where we may be staying!) Isn't anyone wearing green sneaker-booties?? -MaryBeth

Ugh, at this point, I'll settle for whatever is in my closet that fits properly. Pardon my French, but it just plain sucks that I've put on about 35 pounds. Nothing quite so much fun as getting hit in the head with the realization that you've gone from a size 6-8 to a 14-16, all within the space of just over a year. I can no longer presume that the dry cleaner shrank everything. Forgive me for sounding like a typical female, kvetching about her weight. It's just that, well, I am somewhat into fashion, and it's ever so frustrating to not be able to simply decide what to purchase without fretting about how it will look if it hugs the love handles too much or rides up over the belly, etc. Man, I really can't wait till all these lo-rise pants/cropped top combinations go by the wayside. Plus, being 5'10", it's already difficult getting tops long enough. Now they look as though they were made for a 12-year-old on me. LOL So I guess it'll be the Vera Wang, single-shouldered black evening gown. Or the Donna Karan sequined long-sleeve backless black cocktail dress. Or, most likely, a G**DAMN MUU-MUU!!!!! rofl! -Joanne (who would kill for a failsafe way to drop even 30 pounds in the next 5 weeks...LOL)

Joanne, a silk shalwar enhances the looks of us all. Only problem is finding one big enough...... I too am tall (not 5'10 any more though, I think the kids steal my height as they grow.)
I have a silk shalwar that is cut more for American tastes, ie not as loose, with embroidary on the front. It was at a the Bon Marche. I would wear it with black slacks.
If you learn how to lose 35 pounds in 5 weeks without surgery let me know. Turan

one word, my dearies: exercise. ;D ps. if I do a 45 mile bike ride, I come home 5 lbs lighter. of course, that is fluid loss, but string a few of those days together and you're burning fat. Burn it -- you can't hide it! Lance Armstrong lost 15 lbs during a 2 hour time trial in the tour de France this year, but that is a near fatal level of dehydration.... LadyD... I can run up to almost 2 miles straight now. Are you proud of me? (Of course it takes me about 25 minutes.) Re: Lance... that's DRASTIC!! I've lost a pound and a half since I last weighed myself about 3 days ago. And I don't think it's fluid loss -- coz I keep hydrating myself. I'm pretty thrilled. ;D Running'll do it. Get out there and run!! (I pretend I'm chasing Cat. It works).

I refuse to get jealous about the trip you guys are making I'm making myself concentrate on the inconvenience of overseas travel, sitting straight up all squashed for so many hours & I'm even picturing some very tall person who would just be sitting directly in front of me obstructing my view completely had I gone
