Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered from musicstack. I'll let you know what happens. I expect it's a bootleg from the old broadcast. Stay tuned...

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS GUY
He never sent it
I asked twice more
I finally got a dvd that was a poor copy of a VHS tape with glitches that had been recorded in mono, and was a compilation with the BBC, I do not recommend this seller you can see better quality on youtube

That's too bad, Sue. It is especially bad because these people know they are dealing with true, hard-core fans for the most part. Thanks for passing it along.

Sorry Sue and dmh84, I've deleted the link. I found this link after, I tried to buy it but it wouldn't go thru the checkout from where I am it seems It certainly is a better price - whether it's worth it or not is another question, but here's the direct link if anyone is able maybe to just inquire about it (and at least you can see the packaging): www.stellarproducts.biz/catstli70peo.html

It actually sounds like a pretty cool DVD if the quality is halfway decent. And only $12. Product Description This is a great 2hr collection of various Cat Stevens concert performances. Not only does it have the usual KCET concert from `71 but also contains almost 90 min of additional footage that is very rare. It has "BBC in Concert" 3-15-71(the complete show), next is"Old Grey Whistle Test" from 10-1-71, then there is "POP 2" from French TV from 10-70(a very rare piece) and finally an "ABC In Concert" from 10-9-73 which has Cat playing with a complete band(rare for him), The DVD is rounded out with a rare promo for "Lady D` Arbanville" Please don't expect DVD quality footage as all of these tracks are quite rare, some over 30 years old. Overall quality is about 7/10. This region-free DVD-R is in NTSC format and will play on most PS2 systems and DVD Players made since 2000, and comes in a FULL SIZE DVD case, with cover art and track listing. First class shipping is FREE! Priority shipping on this item is $4.00. International shipping is $5.00. Credit card payment with Paypal or Money order ships next day. Personal check ships in 7 days.

I did the bootleg thing with Springsteen when it was albums and there they are in my closet where they have been collecting dust for more than 20 years. One of them sounds like somebody made it in his bathtub under the water! Nobody wants them. I haven't even owned a turntable since I broke the last one ten or fifteen years ago. My cat used to like to hide in that closet and sit on them. If God wants us to see ABC in Concert WE WILL SEE IT!!!!! Keep praying you guys....

Hi fellow crazy greeek girl! ;D If I remember, I think you recieved the Reader Digest from Bob. The photo with his mother is in the article. You probably could not take your eyes from him, and missed seeing his mother standing over him, proudly watching him play the piano. Go and check the article again, you must have read Bobs post yesterday, it's going to be a collectors item.

The performance has been so widely bootlegged that I don't know why those that own the rights don't just release it on CD and DVD.

Because then they would have to admit that the master copy was never lost, as it has been claimed. But has been secretly under lock and key. Why don't they just realise that releasing this gem on CD/DVD will create a goldmine!

they said they paid for it and never got it ..now the link is gone Actually, that was the DVD from musicstack that sueinhollywood and dmh84 were talking about. I'm wondering about the DVD from stellarproducts that jonathanjzero and JaneB were talking about: www.maximumsound.org/Cat-Stevens-live-70s-Performances-on-DVD_p_681.html . I also found two other vendors selling DVDs with the concert, one for $20 (http://midnighttosix.typepad.com/midnight_to_six_rare_vide/2010/03/cat-stevens-19671973.html, includes other material) and another for $12.99 (http://www.ioffer.com/i/cat-stevens-1974-abc-tv-in-concert-136574965), both with shipping included.

''The DVD is rounded out with a rare promo for "Lady D` Arbanville" Well that would be very interresting! or does he mean this one? although it does't really look like a music video

Maybe that is the "rare promo" on the DVD?

Dang - that would be very interesting! I'd love to see THE authentic Lady D in the flesh and blood in the period of time that the song was written for her. I hope you're right about that Hyacinth!

(excuse my writing, its 3:20 am here ) The footage starts around 0:17

At the risk of sounding crass..... With the passing of Dick Clark yesterday, can we hope that the heirs of his business will consider releasing the "Moon & Star" concert and other concerts from the series?! Just a tought. There is a Timelife infomercial running which includes clean footage of "Morning Has Broken" from that show. The show is out there, would be nice to see it restored and distributed.

Yes xoxox and may Dick Clark rest in peace .. He wrote the soundtrack to so much of alot of peoples Lives ... bridging the gap between races thru the medium of music . and gave so many music breaks to so many people it is just so unreal when thinking about it .. wow!!! I met him once at LaGuardia airport in the taxi line believe it or not ! and had a most wondrous conversation with him and his lovely wife.. quite a caring for others kind of gentleman... they broke the mold after him ... God rest his soul xo

This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary ABC in Concert "Moon & Star" broadcast. Wouldn't it be time that the copyright owners and Yusuf's team come to an agreement to finally release this on DVD /Blu ray??!!
For me, it remains Steve's finest live performance ever recorded with a full band.
Joshua White did a great job directing this, even got an Emmy nomination for it back in 1974.
Let's hope it materializes.
