:)Hi could someone help me with the names of the fabulous Roadsters who support Yusuf so well? I dont know all of them ???and I was impressed by the guys!! thank you... I'm sure there are other majicatters who can answer better than I can, but I'll toss out some possible answers: Maybe the guy to Yusuf's left is the tour manager (and maybe not technically a "Roadster"), Roger Searle, who you can read a little more about here. I don't know who the other two might be (that's not Yoriyos in a suit, is it?). : Thanks, ~Sun~ Hi Sun, Yes, it is Yoriyos. I saw him (with full beard) coming out of the backstage area with his mother just before the second part of the show started...he had a suit on.

what a fantastic review, thanks M.- I have translated a couple of the most impressive bits for you
He appears on the stage alone, only accompanied by his acoustic guitar, and makes it immediately clear with his opening song Lilywhite from the 1970 album Mona Bone Jakon, what kind of evening this will be. Not a slovenly presented greates hits menu of an aging showstar, but an uplifting, sometimes touching at other times rousing song recital presented with a self-depricating youthful humour by someone who does not have to prove anything but still has lots to say. ..The songs still sound like fresh from the press, thanks to his excellently disposed tourband, the chrystal clear sound and mostly because of his voice. Not only has his voice retained its characteristic timbre. It has matured in the lower register and now sounds more comforting than in his commercial heydays of the 1970s

Thanks for all the posts guys. Awesome pictures, awesome set-list. Have not had a chance to watch the videos yet - but I'm wondering how those of us who did not attned the shows are going to get through this tour without jumping out of our skin! When I read he played parts of Foreigner on the piano I almost screamed out loud at work. I hope I don't get myself fired during this tour.

It's a good thing I don't care about reviews... I don't know what concerts he has seen recently, but every one I have been to in the last couple of years has had a 20-30 minute break. I choose to disregard him and his review Me too - i think the poor guy was dropped on his head as a baby.

The concert was fantastic. Never mind the dull reviewers, they even said he didn't play any hits in the first half. I mean, The Wind, Where Do The Children Play, Here Comes My Baby, First Cut!! If those tunes aren't recognized as his hits, then I don't know what they are.. He did the complete Angelsea, with some key changes and other changes. I can tell you that I jumped out of my chair when he played Angelsea. It's one of my absolute favourite CS songs and it's not one of his most appreciated so I was quite suprised. Some other highlights, if you ask me, were Changes IV, King Of Trees, Lilywhite, Where Do The Children Play and Miles From Nowhere. Of course the rest of the songs where done in fantastic renditions. Me and my dad where really glad when he played Father And Son, it has such a sentimental value. Moonshadow was done in an interesting way. He had added the band to some parts. Wild World and My People were great singalong-songs. I was really delighted to see Yusuf play the piano again! King Of Trees was a perfect start to the second act. And as others have said, the whole Foreigner Suite was not performed, unfortunately. I don't even know if he has the necessary resources for it. I filmed most of Angelsea, will try to upload it on Youtube ASAP :-)

lailethob, thankyou for your report of the concert. Hope we all get the opportunity to see Yusuf again next year. So Yusuf did the whole song Angelsea, (thanks for answering my querie). WOW!!! As no one has posted this video, it will be very interesting to hear his new version of Angelsea. I can't remember if someone posted in which song did he play the piano? No one as yet has posted that video either. Looking forward to that too. I'm sure someone must have captured that highlight of the evening. Could be Yusuf had everone in awe when he played the piano, and they didn't want to miss a precious majical moment I know it is too soon , but I'm hoping we will see a DVD of the European Tour in the near future.

Sorry if this has been posted already Stockholm, Concert Review 7th May 2011 The Local Swedish News in EnglishYusuf Islam, perhaps better known as Cat Stevens, opened his new European tour in Stockholm at the weekend. Contributor Oliver Gee was there to see whether or not fans felt the artist lived up to their expectations. Yusuf set to give Sweden a Cat Stevens 'homecoming' (5 May 11) After suffering through 36 year hiatus from having Cat Stevens out on tour in Europe, his fans could be forgiven for being a little sceptical about his return. With a new name and religion, who could be sure what to expect from Yusuf Islam this time around? But Saturday night's performance at the Hovet in Stockholm was certainly worth the wait. Yusuf played a magnificent and captivating three hour set, featuring some 35 different songs from every stage of his long and varied career. The 62-year-old showed no sign of slowing down, and was talkative and playful throughout, delighting the crowd with Swedish phrases and anecdotes. “Did anybody here go to the same school as me in Gävle?” he asked the crowd, referring to his 6 month schooling stint in his mother's home town, 150 km north of Stockholm. He continued: “Sweden is where it all started for me. Here is where I saw Elvis for the first time in Jailhouse Rock. It began from there.” “I had an uncle here, an artist, his name was Hugo Wickman. He was my first encouragement in the arts. I started my little career in music when I decided that a guitar is a quicker way to make money than a paintbrush.” And the guitar made more than just money for the singer. His string of hits from the 1970s was certainly enough to attract a capacity crowd of Cat Stevens fans to Stockholm's Hovet in hopes that Yusuf could recall some of the magic that had attracted them to his music so many decades ago. The evening began with a solo acoustic set, including a slow version of Where Do the Children Play which he dedicated to the memory of his Swedish mother. He was soon joined by his original back-up guitarist, Alun Davies, to rapturous applause. It was clear from the outset that Yusuf had not left Cat Stevens behind in the waters of Malibu beach, where a near drowning started him down the path to conversion to Islam. He glided through the hits, sometimes blending multiple songs into new medleys (I Love My Dog/Here Comes my Baby/The First Cut is The Deepest). He dedicated a portion of the evening to his current project, 'Moonshadow The Musical', which features many of his 1970s classics in a one story. Perhaps this idea owes something to Sweden too – it had traces of the hugely successful musical adaptation of Abba hits, 'Mamma Mia'. Between songs, Yusuf was playful and in good humour, at one point spontaneously singing lyrics from a traditonal Swedish folk song (Kom lilla flicka valsa med mig) explaining that it was the first song he had ever learned. The evening built in tempo as the night wore on, with Yusuf fusing more old hits with his recent releases, with a few stints on the keyboard thrown in. But he was saving the best last. The concert ended with a build-up of the old favourites, Morning Has Broken, Wild World and Father and Son, the latter complete with photographs projected on the big screen of the audience's own fathers and sons. He returned for an encore after a thunderous standing ovation. “Have pity on an old man,” he pleaded, then finished with Moonshadow, his latest release My People, and Peace Train to a standing audience. Yusuf had lost nothing during his long absence from the stage, and despite all the changes, the only thing different about Cat was his hair colour and the expanded setlist. The night was still all about the music. “Hej då, Stockholm. I hope it won't be another 36 years,” he said, leaving the stage. And judging from the response of the capacity crowd, it's safe to say they shared the same wish.

Thankyou Sue, very nice review. I think the reviewer captured the true warm atmosphere between Yusuf and his audience. I think this is a very good indication that the tour will be no less than a great success.

Peritura, and I thought I would never live to hear him sing live again, let alone Trouble. Aren't we all so fortunate that he is back performing again. Thankyou Casiopiano for sharing. Maybe we will be lucky and have a video of Foreigners Suite from Hamburg.

Cat Stevens alias Yusuf returns www.rundschau-online.de/html/artikel/1305062586557.shtmlCreated 11:05:11, 12:40 The story of who set out to find himself: The Singing Storyteller Yusuf alias Cat Stevens is back on his spiritual quest. After 35 years, he celebrates his first concert in Germany in Hamburg and the return to his fans. Cat Stevens Enlarge Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens sings a sound check before his concert at the O2 World in Hamburg. (Photo: Reuters) HAMBURG - The light in the arena was almost extinguished, before the concert, sounded the first calls and whistles from the crowd. The audience wanted to finally see the man on stage who had brought it in the 60s almost overnight international fame and was then suddenly disappeared from the scene of Pop, Cat Stevens oday, known by the stage name Yusuf. His departure from the show business seemed good. After many years off stage he came to Hamburg on Tuesday night to give his first concert in Germany for 35 years. And suddenly he was there to play alone on a stool in a spotlight with a white beard, his acoustic guitar and started as if nothing had happened. What followed were two hours with a moving great musicians and even greater songwriters. "Sometimes you go on a trip and do not know where she is wearing one," he said after "Blackness of the Night." The allusion was clear: His own journey was the folk singer in 1977 led to Islam after he drowned while swimming in California and almost pointed the rescue by a wave as divine providence. Then the pop circus, he returned back to our all to the faith, was auctioned all his instruments and donated his assets to Islamic schools and charities. It quickly became clear on Tuesday that this new old Yusuf Cat Stevens during his search for meaning has not been lost. The well-known distinctive voice calls between the guitar riffs of the soft-rock ballads for a better world, play in the children, nature blooms and remains no place for war. Even his planned musical "Moon Shadow" is playing in this fantastic world where a boy named Stormy takes off to find his fortune and must resist this temptation for many. The ancient motifs of pull, adventure and return home a hero still pull through the work of five times the father. "There are two types of stories: the departure from and the return," he said one of the newer musical numbers. Yusuf himself has now experienced both. He is a singing storyteller left, who then as now, will give comfort to the ills of the earth. Also for the victims of the unrest in North Africa, the 63-year-old has therefore written a few lines of lyrics: "My People" is inspired by the latest revolt in Egypt. Despite such serious themes and a small portion of world-weariness of the British lacked the necessary wit not to the nearly 6,000 visitors to the O2 Arena in Hamburg on the evening to keep them happy. Again and again he was among the first bars of the desired classic "Moon Shadow" in order then to stop and dry remark: "I play later." Before it finally should be, insofar as they increased, he and his seven-piece band in the course of the evening the tempo and linked to longer and more track medleys. The highlights of this moving journey through his musical work had been saving the man with the gentle look to the end. When he had brought in "Wild World" and "Father and Son" and the last be cuddly couple from their seats, his long break was long since forgiven. "Morning Has Broken" is a chorus of 6000, who remember their own youth blessed. Some classics are missing, for example, "My Lady d'Arbanville" and "Sad Lisa". In addition, he redeemed the lot finally with the long-hoped-for "Moon Shadow" and closed the evening with "Peace Train".
