Great concert, little moment An observation by Iris Hellmuth www.abendblatt.de/hamburg/article1886794/Grosses-Konzert-kleiner-Moment.htmlThe parking lot is nearly empty, it is already night in Hamburg and the concert by Cat Stevens finished a while ago. Only one car is still there, the driver's door is open. A man stands beside it. He has long hair and an even longer beard, his leather jacket looks mat in the dark. She runs straight to him. "Hey, do you have fire?" She asks, she holds a cigarette in her hand. "Sure," the man says ,he is standing next to the driver's door, he has a cigarette in his hand. Then they smoke, very quietly. Until it suddenly groans from inside the car. A woman is sitting there, she has her round belly draped a bit awkwardly in front of the steering wheel, she is very pregnant. "But I wanted to go to his concert anyway,at least we could sit all the time." She says. And she says we, not I. The man has to smile a bit at that . Otherwise, he loves listening to Metallica, he says, but today, then he looks into the sky, this concert tonight moved him anyway. The woman behind the wheel says they have to go now. Up to Hamelin, it is still far. Nothing much happens in the evening, and yet so much, Cat Stevens has not played a concert, the first for 35 years. Many in the audience were crying. A pregnant woman is driving with her husband all through the night, and then the parking lot is suddenly empty in Hamburg.

The review in the FAZ is outstanding-finishing with this sentence: Wenn es den einen Gott gibt, dann hat der den Mann auf die Bühne zurückgeschickt. If there is the One God, then he has certainly sent this man back on stage! I can only say Amen to that

God loves Yusuf, and God loves us. And I thank God for that.

I have not seen any comments on the very cute'three-generations-type' picture on Yusuf's tour site, yet. What is wrong with us? Reminds us too much that we could be (or some actually are) grandmothers/fathers too? I love that picture and wonder whether the couple on the bench next to them had any inkling?... Aminah has shared with us some very special moments. She has captured her father only too well. How fortunate we are that we have the opportunity to see Yusuf through the eyes of his loving daughter.

I'm so happy to hear that so many people enjoyed the show. I wasn't there, but I was in Stockholm and it's so fantastic to see Yusuf performing again. When he did his last performance as Cat Stevens I was -13 years old. I'm also happy to see that he added Maybe You're Right to the setlist, if only maybe for one night, but hopefully you'll all get to enjoy this fantastic song aswell as the rest of the excellent setlist.

It's adorable. Does make you wonder if the guy recognizes who Yusuf is. Just love Yusuf's sneakers!
Do you think that the couple next to Yusuf and his wife in this picture could be Swedish relatives? Does anyone know who they are? I assumed it was Majid???

Do you think that the couple next to Yusuf and his wife in this picture could be Swedish relatives? Does anyone know who they are? Sun, the couple you asked about on the park bench chatting with Yusuf and Fawzia, is Yusufs older sister Anita and her husband Alex. From what I understand they attend most of Yusufs. concerts. found this on a 'Yes' blog about Anita and Alex. They sound like pretty cool people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Growing up, my parents were probably the least musical people I knew. Maybe because they had four boys right away it was a money issue. Regardless, they weren't very hip. We moved to Austria in the early 70's and thankfully my father began working with Cat Steven's brother-in-law, Alex. Alex and Anita (who spent a lot of time with us kids-thanks for all the candy) took my parents to see Anita's brother in concert. Soon after there were several Cat Stevens records in our household. Cat Stevens was the man back then and just like "Yes", his music is still great as ever. Just as I am thankful for "Yes", I salute the very special music that Yousef made; it changed my world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PS... I can't locate the photo right now. But Alex is also featured on the photo along side David, Yoriyos and Aminah, in which Yusuf is signing the BMG contract.

No, that isn't Majid. Majid has black hair. It's probably someone in a park he stopped to chat with. I love the photo. very nice. Here is the BMG photo I mentioned earlier with Yusufs brother in law in.

@gabi, I see , now that certainly is a very special highlight. ;D Very happy for you. It seems everyone who attended, and will attend a Yusuf concert, will have a special, personal story, and something very dear in their hearts to keep, and to take back home.

I know this is sort of off topic, but looking at the BMG photo our Christine posted, which I have seen before, but taking a closer look, I noticed how everyone is so well co ordinated in the dress colour. Everyone is dressed in beautiful tones of blues, browns, beiges, slate, black. My favourite dress clours, earthy tones. I wonder if it was coincedence, but to me, it does make it a very pleasing photo to look at.

Didn't take many pics at the show: It was a fantastic night Yusuf at it's best, seated in the 1st row, again new arrangements to well known and beloved songs and some great surprises, sound was very good :-) @ Richina: as Jane recorded, I had to be as quiet as possible, just lipp movement. But at the encores I got her standing up and swing her hips ;D You were in between us in our minds ;-) complete album -> s1022.photobucket.com/albums/af349/Eumel_One/Yusuf%20European%20Tour%202011/Now the countdown runs for Mannheim :-) Please, please - Yusuf, Yori, Hamid, Aminah - there will be a handful of true majicatters waiting for a backstage visit !!

Thanks Gabi, I don't think Jane would have ever told me that she danced a little! You know, sometimes you just can't help it....I'd never hold it against her. Thanks for thinking of me and I hope one day we could all meet and "shake our booties" together!! I could really teach you some moves! ;D I'm glad y'all had such fun!!
