Wishing Christina, Jane, Regii, Marie, Meg, Helen, Catnip1961, Sylvia, Michele, Sabina, Sue, and Martina safe travels and great fun in Berlin. Pictures, pictures, pictures, please. Looking forward to hearing from everyone when you get the time and energy to report in. Best wishes to Yusuf and everyone on tour with him. Try to get plenty of rest and stay healthy. Honey and lemon rather than cream and sugar in your tea might be a good idea. Take care. Just a quick note. have to pack and my flight leaves in 8 hours or so.
Set list was the same as Oberhausen (yes, Hyacinth he did do "Maybe You're Right"), until the encores.
A bit of a flub during "the Wind" - he stopped and asked for his voice on the monitors to be raised. Then when he started again, he kind of lost his place.
There were three separate encores tonight:
1: My People Peace Train
2: All Kinds of Roses
3: Bad Brakes
been nice chatting with you guys the past week = and thanks to all who sent Birthday wishes my way yesterday.

Thanks, Trosnj, for the quick report back. There's always a bit of excitement, isn't there? Three encores-people must have loved that. Of course he would have sung 'My People' in Berlin.

Two last notes: He did sing one line of Bitterblue - that was to answer / quiet someone who was screaming out for it.
Also, there was a poster available tonight - had the back cover picture of Catch Bull - with the symbol from the album. No writing on it at all that would indicate it came from this tour.

@regi, this is one novel that no one should miss. No one tells a story better than Jane. ;D The Yusuf European Tour experience submitted by fans that were there. I think this is what Yusuf was asking for for. Yusuf is in the making of a documentary type video for after the tour. Written accounts, and videos from his fans. Besides Jane, we have many talented writers here at Majicat, Sabina, Christina, Martina, Barney, Doris, Sue..... and from behind the scenes, Sun, Rechina, Bud, and many more, that will serve Yusufs project very well, and make it a personal extra sepcial bonus..

I'm surprised there is not more written about last night. The consensus among those to whom I have spoken is that he was flat last night. Certainly not the same concert I saw in the previous two cities. From the moment he started singing last night I could tell he was off from Hamburg and Oberhausen, and I blame the sound in the arena. From where I was sitting (4th row middle of the floor) the sound was complete garbage - I kept thinking everyone in the arena was singing along but it was actually echoes in the arena. If he was hearing that on stage, then it must have been extremely distracting to him. Of course, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it as much as the other two, but if negative reviews pop up, please keep this post in mind

catchem -I know you will be having a fantastic time. Enjoy every minute. Have you seen Cat/Yusuf before? Thanks peritura for the wishes. I am sure I will have a great time. No I havent seen him live before. I was 15 when I first listen to cat stevens 7 years ago, before that time the only other musician I knew or have indeed heared was Micheal Jackson. The song that I heard first was Father and Son and I was hooked to cats music. His songs are so true to life its scary. I have followed his music since. I am currently in Germany as an exchange student from England and its hasnt been easily here, but for Yusuf/Cats music I have coped very well. I just wish I can thank him personally if I can, but I will leave that to God. Once again many thanks. Peace, Catchem.

At least he's got a couple of days to rest up for Munich. What between the travel, rehearsal, sound check, etc....yep, he'll have plenty of rest. He's gonna sleep for a week when he gets home!! That Yusie is one tough fella...gotta love it!!

I agree with Jane the concert was flat and sound quality was not good - some people sitting around me in Premier seating were not interested at all and at one point Regi and I were told to be quiet !!!!! The "gentleman" had to be told that Regi and I had travelled hundreds of miles to be there and paid a lot of money for those seats which well qualified us to enjoy ourselves !!!!

Time Travel with Yusuf Islam Concert The man who was Cat Stevens, is touring through Germany again BERLIN - The view from Yusuf Islam immigrated to the public ranks. 10 000 people sitting there. Many of them set up their mobile phone on him. They shoot pictures, filming videos. "What is happening with this world," says the aged star and can not resist a smirk. Previously people craned their lighters at concerts in the air. In the past when there were no phones. as Yusuf Islam Cat Stevens was still used.
More than three decades have passed since the great songwriters of the last time a German concert stage stood. Now he is touring again. Hamburg, Oberhausen. On Saturday he was on in the nearly sold-out arena Ostbahnhof. He took his guests in Berlin on a musical journey through time.
On stage, two lanterns and a suggested brick wall. An alley. And in the middle with just a guitar he stands. Gray, like many of his fans. He plays "Lilywhite" and "Moon Shadow". A little later, followed by "I love my dog." "This is a song for the wise men," he says mischievously, before the audience back to the beginning of his career leads.
"I love my dog" is his first single from the year 1967. Yusuf, born Steven Demetre Georgiou, was then barely 20 years old. In that time he was a teen idol in his British homeland. For the charismatic singer, for which the name Cat Stevens is now, it developed only after a life-threatening tuberculosis late 60s. In the hospital he wrote a dozen songs, began to philosophize about the meaning of his life. He rose from his sick bed as a new, thoughtful man, he wrote hits like "Father and Son" and "Wild World". Yusuf also sang in Berlin.
He still has that velvety voice. His guitar - he moves to almost every song by a wonderful Gibson to the next - he still elicits such warm and yet transparent sound. During the concert, he gets more and more musicians on stage. Although it is at the end of half a dozen, this is not at all choking the show.
Yes, the comic book images that flash across the screens at the edge of the stage, are a bit too much. Surging sea shimmering in the moonlight, leaves fluttering in the wind. The attempt to knit a short, musical-like love story, borders on kitsch. But these elements are only tirades that you forget in the face of the man on the stage quickly. Yusuf is just excellent.
For two hours he played almost exclusively his classics. He is relaxed, funny, all the old Cat. And then comes the now 62-year-old in the present. And finally, he shows why he has returned after 35 years returned to the stage.
1977, after a second near-death experience, took Cat Stevens his purpose in Islam and took the new name. He became a conservative Muslim. This life does not fit a rock star. But after the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001 he felt that it was time again to sing for peace, to bring together Christians and Muslims. This commitment, he made very clear in Berlin. He read the "Peace Train" rolls again. And he played his latest song about peace and freedom: "My People".
The 10 000 people in the arena at the Ostbahnhof apparently felt that he also meant it when he spoke of "his people" sang. Even after the second addition, they would not let go Yusuf. Perhaps out of fear, not to see him back 35 years.

and an excerpt from another review Yusuf has forgotten nothing of what had formerly Cat, actually his voice sounds even better than before. Deeper, more mature, perhaps even wiser. And it no longer has this slightly moaning ,goatlike sound from before. Yusuf acts pleasantly relaxed, casual, unpretentious. And the surround sound in the sterile arena at Berlin Ostbahnhof had perhaps never been more balanced and brilliant. Nothing sounds overdriven, even when it is louder, comes with every new song from another musician on stage and the unplugged sound of the beginning of filling up the entire electrical tape with two or three other guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and backing vocals .
