Today's the day of Moonshadow!. ;D Wow, full moon...dont miss it! The last eclipse of 2011 will be a total lunar eclipse on December 10. Depending on where you live on Earth’s globe, the eclipse will happen either before dawn or that evening. The Earth’s umbra – dark shadow – will totally cover over the lunar disk for 51 minutes. December: Moon Before Yule, or Long Night Moon

I pray the forming of the musical is going well and its grand.... I"m considering going from the USA to Australia .. God Willing ...
end of May is a ways off for me but not for getting a musical/fable ready ... thats a short amount of time... ... Im praying that the casting will be precise and exactly what they are looking for .. and then the coaching of the vocals too!!! .. .... Casting and the stage designs are essential to capture the soaring to that planet ... story line is there!!! xoxo
I can just imagine yusuf sketching the ideas he has ....
Blessings to him ~~

:)Lovely, bet its all going well...and that you will get there Aurarisma! I would dearly love to share his dream to hear new songs and see the vision..although I have no idea about how musicals are put together... I reckon it will be as sweet as the clip we saw in Berlin..I totally adored that Moonshadow slot........ In your opinion, is it best to attend an opening night..or is it better to try for another night ?

Did anyone else watch the full moon lunar eclipse on last year's Winter solstice? December 21, 2010, I think it was. Astronomers said the coincidence occurs only once every 550 years or so.
I stayed up until 4 am to watch it, lying on a blanket in my garden on a thick bed of snow, in that perfect snow-muffled stillness .... Until, I heard a door open across the street where the Anthropologist lives and then the laughter of people gathering on an outdoors patio. A few minutes later, in the distance, someone set off fireworks ... and then more fireworks from a different location .... The party-goers across the street began hooting.... I was most astonished.

In your opinion, is it best to attend an opening night..or is it better to try for another night ? Opening Night is exhilarating for the audience but a bit more for the cast I believe being in casts... its zoooming ..!!! !! I've been to many here on Broadway in Nyc also ... since 75' what I like about the concept of Broadway debuts and such .. is that they eventually travel .. doing national tours or setting up house elsewhere and I'm sure that is what yusuf's Moonshadow will do !! so seeing it opening night or , or any night for the audience will be amazing because each performance should be spot on with virtually no errors .. yet it will take on a life of its own with the audience too based upon if there is laughter warranted with a line .. I have a feeling it will be playing a long long run and in many places .. have that feeling!! God Willing ..... I venture it wont be a complete dream come true for yusuf until it plays in Londons west end as well ! Australia I feel is where he is having its previews and going to do a long run .. next willl be London and hopefully The White Way Broadway xxoxox peace xoxox
Yes purplemoon... amazzzzzzzzzing!

Yes, although it was cloudy here and I had to watch it on remote cameras online. But I was so smitten with it I posted a bunch of photos here. Probably drove y'all crazy. We had a lunar eclipse a couple days ago, but I guess you could only see it on the U.S. west coast? Loved that full moon here. So bright! And the nights are so long - I never really noticed before - but I can't even sleep all night anymore. I typically fall asleep around 8 and wake up at 3 a.m. Frustrating! I'm only up now because I fell asleep about 4 p.m, as the sun was thinking about setting. My bedroom window faces east so it was pretty dark in there. I'd just laid down to read the paper. These short daylights have my schedule all messed up! Can't wait for the days to start getting longer again.

Did you notice Mr. Moonshadows tweet? "Happy New Year everyone. Keep looking Moonwards, there might be a sign of something extraordinary on the horizon - God willing"? In 2009 they we're talking about a concept album of the musical...

www.actforaustralia.com/articles/yusuf-islam%E2%80%99s-%E2%80%9Cmoonshadow%E2%80%9D-best-musical-ever"What do you consider the best musical ever? Is it My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, West Side Story, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, South Pacific, The Sound of Music or The Phantom of the Opera? No, the best musical EVER will open in Melbourne next year.Even Andrew Lloyd Weber’s wildly popular Phantom of the Opera will pale in comparison to Yusuf Islam’s “Moonshadow”. And you can be sure that, whatever the quality of the performance, our entertainment and media elites will rush to praise it, ensuring it is the must-see event for 2012. But Moonshadow isn’t just about the music: it contains a profound message for our times, as underlined by Al Age’s prophetic caption, “Yusuf spreads the word”: MELBOURNE'S reputation as a centre for musical theatre continues to grow with news that Yusuf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens, conducted workshops here in October for Moonshadow, a show based on his 1970s hits, including Peace Train, Father and Son and Wild World. Jason Marriner, whose family-run company owns the Regent, Forum, Princess and Comedy theatres, says…the fact that he chose Melbourne to bring it to fruition…shows how far the city's international reputation has spread. The $5 million production will make its world premiere at the Princess Theatre in May 2012. From the Age." In German we call it Vorschusslorbeeren Yes, the Westend Theatres have to go green with envy ;D

From his Facebook and website: /yusufofficial The World Premiere of Moonshadow“In this world of Darkness, evil rules by night, but somewhere in the shadows … someone’s seeking light.”It now official that Moonshadow the Musical will make its World Premiere at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, in May 2012. Weaving together the much loved songs and music of Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Moonshadow will take the audience on an incredible journey with a magical story of a young man and his moonshadow’s struggle against the oncoming of darkness. As the night planet prepares for the big blackout by the death of the Moon, the odd duo battle to overcome the hidden enemy, in search for the mythical land of the lost sun … and everlasting happiness. Yusuf explains where the musical began:
“I Suppose the Musical, Moonshadow, began, in a way, back when I was a child – growing up in middle of London’s West-End. Apart from the bright lights, theatres and everything else that was going on, I remember looking out of my window at nightime, into the deep night sky and wondering… Where does the sky end?”
Moonshadow is about themes that are both powerful and universal. It’s about hopes and dreams; greed and power; right and wrong; but most importantly Moonshadow is about happiness and love. Showcasing exciting new songs with Yusuf’s most famous and beloved classics from his expansive back catalogue, with hits around every corner, such as Father and Son, Wild World, Morning Has Broken, Matthew & Son and First Cut is the Deepest, this musical hopes to send audiences out happily singing the songs they know so well. I am really looking forward to the new songs!!..can't wait to be happily singing those as well................. Anyone got any info?... Same here. 'Doors' one of them I think. 'Heaven/Where True Love Goes' and 'There is Peace' was written for the musical....Yusuf has recorded the concept album just to accompany the musical back in 2009..... that will see the light of day to release it soon. (As Affy asks about it too) I hope this will be true of Moonshadow as well, except, of course, that Yusuf's songs will be "dancing in the moonlight." God-willing, everyone will truly love this musical. Lots to look forward next year...Moonshadow, the third album, Maqams...and lastly etc,,,(the Musical DVD, autobio, MOL products....well.... ;D

From Yusuf Website: "Happy New Year In Alaylia!"
"This is the year Moonshadow will descend on the dark planet of Alaylia. There was a mini celebration which was quickly put down by the shadowy forces, but not before a picture was taken (See Above). The population are still carrying hope that things will be better than last year. So let’s all do our very best to make sure it is – God willing."Does anyone know why Yusuf named the Planet Alaylia - I'm sure it must have a meaning something that I'm not aware of. Peace!

Prompted by the mention of St Augustine on another thread I remembered that he was a convert to Christianity from Manichaeism.. If I am correct, and what I have seen and heard so far, Moonshadow deals with, as one of its threads, the struggle between a good world of light and evil world of darkness..inner and outer... The old 'religion' Manichaeism taught an elaborate cosmology describing the struggle between a good, spiritual world of light, and an evil, material world of darkness. How through an ongoing process which takes place in human history, light is gradually removed from the world of matter and returned to the world of light from which it came...
Although just an obsevation,I am fascinated that Manichaeismic creationist 'stories' certainly have some echos of Yusufs Moonshadow...as far as I understand....(actually that should read the other way round!!lol) Such an interesting Musical on so many levels!!..... Cant wait till it comes to the West End!!...
