Ok this thread is about your OLD (or new) cat t-shirt stories and photo's if you have them. <------------ My photo from the 70's I had a good laugh going through old family photos and spotting this picture of myself in my old Cat t-shirt in the mid 70's. Unfortunately, it is really blurry. Those old 110 Kodak instantmatics didn't take very clear pictures or perhaps it was my friend skaking uncontrolable, because she was freaking out looking at that t-shirt.

I had a t-shirt just like that one, except it was beige! My best friend gave it to me for my 16th birthday! I was so excited, I didn't know what to do. Naturally, I wore it all the time, and esp. to the concert we went to (same friend) a few months later, part of the Majicat tour. Those were the days!

Oh I had the exact same pic, BTW! It was THAT one that I had ironed onto my pillow! Too bad I never got a pic of that, before it got ruined!

I never got an official Cat shirt.... I was a broke teenager, but once I got some letters and ironed the name "Cat Stevens" on a T-shirt. I wore it proudly. I got my first Cat shirt a couple of years ago when Cat.com had them for sale. It is my favorite shirt. Vivian, I never thought about ironing Cat onto a pillow case. I would have just bought me a transfer when I was young and would have just ironed that handsome face onto my pillowcase and would have held it tight all night..LOLOLOLOL Weren't we the silliest things when we were young. Christine, you look so cool in that photo. I also love those flare-legged pants. Love, A'isha

Vivian you can send your picture if your wish, I'll send it back to you after it is scanned. I was trying to think of an easier way for you to scan it but I can't seem to come up with a solution. Bonehead, do you have any old pictures of yourself in your t-shirt? I bought mine in a record store. I have no idea why I settled with an orange shirt of all colors, but it did make his hair and eyes stand out. Though, I always wish I had bought an authentic Concert t-shirt. But at the time, I didn't have any extra money when I went to the majikat concert. Aisha, at least you were able to finally get yourself a t-shirt of cat. Were you ever able to iron on the cat fest t-shirt transfer? Mine still is holding up after so many washings. As for the pants? LOL Those were the days my friend!! Elephant pants and earth shoes.

There's a freshman at my school who has a Cat Stevens t-shirt! I really need to ask him where he got it. It's lovely - it has the best of picture on it. (I think it's the best of picture. Whatever. It's a picture of Cat looking like Cat Stevens.) A Cat shirt is the first item on my birthday wish list! Followed by Foreigner. WHOOPS! Just spilled my deepest, darkest secret. I'm missing a Cat album! I'm so close - it's the last one for my collection! Andrea

Great picture Christine...you look completely groovy!
Sorry...I don't have one to share. Never had any band or concert t-shirts.
So whatever happened to the shirt?

The funny thing is that I went to a lot of concerts back in my glory days, but I never bought a T-shirt until the very late 70's, probably 1978 or so when I saw Rod Stewart. It wasn't that I did not want one, but I had no money when I attended the earlier shows, so that meant no program, and no shirt. How, or why, I managed to have the extra money then I have no idea. But such is the sad tale of being young. I was lucky to be able to afford the price of the concert ticket, then I had to bribe my brother into wanting to go so he could drive. Lucky for me that he had the same taste in music that I did {do}. Now, I have some t-shirts but it would have been great to have them way back then.

Hi MissKitty, it is good to see you. I have never bought concert t-shirts either. They are outrageously expensive.
And Celticat, you should have seen my husband's face when I first put on my Cat shirt. LOLOLOL He has gotten used to it now.
And Chris, I still have my Catfest shirt. I wear it alot. I ironed everyone's transfers on for them. Jamileh's turned out the nicest.
You know, I need to get me a package of t-shirts. I have transfer sheets, Cat photos, and a new cartridge of ink. What do you think? Do you think the husband will like me wearing the 'handstand pic' across my chest? LOLOLOLOL Nah, that is too risque. I think the winking pic would be awesome on a t-shirt.
Love, A'isha

Christine, I may have a picture somewhere I can scan, but I would have to go through a lot of boxes and albums to find it. I remember one taken of my cousin and me in our orchard, when she came to visit from England. I'll look for it.

Thanks Christine! I will have it out in tomorrow's mail! And A'isha, I did just that! I brought my pillow case into the transfer shop, pointed to Cat, and said PUT THAT GORGEOUS FACE ON HERE!!! Of course, the guy thought I was bonkers, but since I was only thirteen years old, I guess he didn't laugh too hard! And YES, I hugged that pillow so tight, night after night! And I guess after crying into it for six straight years, it finally saw its day!
Peace,Vivian

Christine, that's a great photo! You look just how I imagined you! Only in the autumn of 1979 Cat captivated me with 'Morning has Broken', and I never had a Cat T-shirt! Yet there's a photo connected with Cat - It was taken on December 31st, 1979 and shows me with the "Teaser" LP I got for Christmas that year! Does that count a little, too? Love, Sanna

BHW, I would love to see your picture of yourself in your Cat shirt. But only if it isn't to much trouble.
Sanna, any cat reference would be welcome. I would love to see your picture with the Teaser LP. The shirt idea came upon me just because I spotted the picture. Though I do have a picture of my dog Harley wearing a cat stevens baseball cap, which a friend made for me. I never wore it, but took a picture of Harley in it.. It was to cute.
Andrea, with your birthday coming up soon, I hope you receive a really nice Cat t-shirt for it or at the very least the Foreigner CD.
Hummingbird, I no longer have the shirt it was thrown out years ago. It lost it's picture through washings. But it continued to sit in my drawer for years, before I had the courage to finally dispose of it.
As for Lady's question, Nope, back then all I was concerned with, is if I'd ever get the opportunity to see Cat in concert. My how years just fly away.

Christine, I'd love to see Harley as a Cat fan! Must look so cute! Thanks for accepting my 'Cat T-shirt-less' photo! But my problem is still that I can't scan it myself. If you can give me an address, I would like to send you the 'real' photo by mail. Hope it isn't too much trouble to scan it and post it for me! Love, Sanna

I would like to see Harley in a Cat shirt too. I love those kinds of photos.
I have a picture of JamieJ and me together in 1989. She and I are looking at cd inserts, guess whose cd I am looking at. LOLOL I am debating posting the photo though because I was not a Muslim at that time and my hair is showing. I don't look much different in it than I do now except I wear my hair with a touch of red now.
Love, A'isha

Hey girls, I never put Harley in a cat Tshirt. He is a german shepard, there is no way he would let me dress him up. I only placed a cat stevens baseball cap on his head, and even then it only stayed on his head for a few seconds. He's not one for wearing human clothing. LOL Here he is: Isn't he cute?

Awwww Christine, you were so cute, love the outfit! ;D I think I've seen that transfer up on ebay a few times. Does it have "Cat Stevens" written on it in funky letters? I bought a transfer there recently but it's the picture that's on the "Very Best of" CD cover. Vivian-- if you still have the negatives, you can take them to get developed and ask for a photo cd! That way, you can upload them to the internet and email and such. A lot of libraries (minus the very-70's ones in Miami...) have scanners and CD burners that you can use... Kinko's does too. Of course, there's always mailing them to Christine and having her do the work! BTW, love the pillowcase idea... I think I'll do that with my transfer that I've yet to use! It would look groovy on a beige canvas-y pillow. - Lissette

Your idea about taking a negative into a photo shop and placed onto a CD or Floppy is a very good suggestion. Sanna/Vivian, you may want to try Lissettes suggestion with your photograph. I'll gladly help you to place it into a JPG if you wish. But taking it to a photo shop as Lissette suggested, may be much cheaper for you in the long run (considering Airmail isn't cheap) and it could be safer. Let me know what you decide. Christine

A'isha, I bought one of the t-shirts off CS.com but the first time I washed it the picture totally faded. I was rather PO'd. I would have thought the image should have been better quality. I garden in it alot, so now Cat shares the space with all the dirt that wouldn't wash out...well, he is rather down to earth, right?
I totally think you should flaunt that t-shirt in front of the hubby! In fact, why don't all you girls wear them to the dinner table. I bet that would go over real well (rolling eyes here).
