www.catstevens.nl/cat/me/bookme.htmlThis is a Dutch article I ran across which is very interesting....but it's the pictures that speak a thousand words. It says the "English version" is on Majicat Scrapbook (submitted by Christine), but I couldn't find it so I posted it here. If it's been posted before...sorry....I just thought it showed great insight into what Yusuf was doing after he left the business and how personally he was affected. Gosh, what a life he has led! I really hope you have a Google translater, if not let me know and I can print the article, but it won't show the pictures with it. Enjoy.

Campaign for Indians Cat Stevens, pop musician, has become the "Indian Freedom" connected movement, which campaigns for the rights of the indigenous minority in the United States. The most prominent member so far: Jane Fonda. Cat supported the movement both financially and through his participation in demonstrations and with the drafting of petitions for imprisoned Indian. This is certainly not a favorite photo...just one I haven't seen. Uh, what's up with the shaved place in his head?? Demonstrating, fashion statement....or can't make up his mind, long or short? Maybe now we know where Yoriyos got his love of Indians?

:)I think that Cat often had an expression of pathos in his eyes... Its one of the things that attracted me to his music and him back in the day........heady mix of angst, pathos, searching ,wanting answers, love lost ,searching for life meaning ...oh my!!! and the glimmers of joy........nice eyes......x

Another German article (with pix I've never seen) from 1975 Cat Stevens over a year was gone without a trace. Now appeared the romantic pop singer on two concerts in Germany. In the interview, Bravo-The shy artist was a staunch supporter of the magic seen ... BRAVO: You were months out of the picture disappeared 14th What have you done in that time? Cat: In my world tour in '74 I was close to collapse. The hype about my person, the harried life that I had - that I hung out on the neck. I realized that I no longer was myself and that I slowly perished. Therefore, I made it as the old monks: I shaved my hair and my beard off and set out alone without telling someone where my trip would go. Bravo: Can you tell now your sanctuary? Cat: I went first three and a half months after Brazil. There, I rented a remote, small house. For weeks I spoke to no one. Then I went to Ethiopia and worked for UNICEF, for which I donated U.S. dollars 100,000. When I was feeling was that, my of the bad influences of the touring life cleaned to have work through me, I traveled to the Swiss Alps, learned to ski and began again to compose. Bravo: The result is your new CD "Numbers, which has an unusual story ..... Cat: The eight songs are from a distant planet Polygor, the nine-beings live on. Monad, the ruler, Dubay, the servant, Trezlar, the child, Cubios, the manager, Quizlo, the spaceman, Hexidor, the clairvoyant, Septor, the doctor, and the giant Octar Novim, the Wise. These nine beings are responsible for all the planets in the universe to assign numbers. And since one of the numbers 0 through 9, each of which has its own magical significance, can make millions of combinations, we are all of these fabulous creatures depend. BRAVO: Do you believe in magic and sorcery? Cat: I believe in these things as well as in the Bible. I am very sensitive and often receive messages from space: Do this, do that do not. I wanted to sample after my last concert on tour never go. But when I write the songs for my album had finished, came to my belief in me a compulsion that I ordered again to appear before the audience. I believe that everyone receives such messages, but on the other hand, defends follow them. BRAVO: How is your new show look for you in Dusseldorf on December 2 and 6 December in Munich store for us? Cat: I will follow in the magic world of concerts involving: Wizard with unexplainable tricks will Include me. One clue is the mysterious word "Majicat" the display is in every concert. It means in a secret language of magic. BRAVO: How do you prepare for the coming concerts in front of? Cat: I had the past few weeks in a remote hotel in Frankfurt back into where I could practice undisturbed thinking and completely. After weeks of silence I need to fill up the strength to stand before a large audience. Report and photos from the BRAVO of 4 December 1975« www.catstevens.at/testpage/intervi8.php

Interesting photos, thanks for sharing. Is it just me, or did Cat just give you this mystifying feeling. Its just something about the way he looks at *or away from* the camera...these fleeting moments of searching or wanting for something.

I usually don't comment on the Cat pics because "that was then and this is now", but there's no getting around the fact that Cat was a cutie-patootie! Same verdict for each pic - :DHappy Cat = cutie-patootie >:(Scowling Cat = cutie-patootie :-/Sad Cat = cutie-patootie (just hated to see him so sad though) AND odeon AHA! SachatheEvilOne has finally revealed himself in your new avatar! Sacha looks great dancing in his little suit! haha my cat's name is Sacha, but that's not my cat, i don't think my cat would enjoy this, but it found this on photobucket, and i found it to be funny ;D the cat doesn't seem to mind it that much.

Odeon, you are a very talented young lad. It is a joy to have you here. So nice to know the majic of Yusuf continues to touch deeply a new generation, and will continue, generations to come.
