Hmm! Very impressive Richina, but I would have thought some other recently aquired Cat memorabilia would be displayed here Badco. Ahh yes Peter.....not to worry! I was going to post a picture after I got it framed but for now I'll use the one you took! This is my most fabulous autographed handkerchief, acquired between encores, by Peter's Dad when he worked security at the Shrewsbury Music Hall in Feb 1967. It has been sealed for 45+ years. Peter reluctantly agreed to part with it after tiring of my uh, persistant persuasion....actually it was more like constant begging! I have my own personally acquired "Yusuf" autographs, but there will never be another "Cat" signing so I was very pleased to be get this one and know it's precious history!!Thanks for everything Badco!!

Thanks Blossie ( nice to see you btw) ! It always helps when somebody can reassure me I'm not crazy. I have to remind myself that most people collect something, except Jane of course , and that my "drug of choice" just happens to be S/C/Y! I guess it could be frogs, or pigs, or spoons from every state....hee hee, NOT! ;D As Scooby Doo would say " Rank Roo" for the kind words!

I've got my pouty face on, my lip poked out, and need to vent....so here goes!A couple of days ago I found an album on Ebay that was an orchestra playing Cat Stevens songs. It didn't look like much, but since I hadn't seen it before, I decided to bid on it. www.chrisspedding.com/session/mb/mb6.jpg [/img] It was done in 1972 and this same orchestra had also covered songs from George Harrison, Elton John, Bob Dylan, etc. (greats of the day) Opening bid was 5 GBP, but the seller only shipped within the UK. I wrote and asked if he would ship to US, how much it would be, and to change the listing so I could place a bid. He replied he could ship to USA, but needed to check postage rates. The next day (Monday), the listing was ended. I waited a day, to give him time, then inquired again about getting the album. He told me they had so much response to the lp that they decided to do some research....the couple was told the album was very rare and worth 2000 GPB!! The guy went so far as to apologize for my trouble, and offered to send me some free albums....no thanks! He told me he would have to be crazy to sell the lp for such little money, and if I wanted to make him a reasonable offer...he would entertain it! Yeah, right! Que sera sera! PS I had seen another album by this orchestra on Ebay and it too was priced at 2000 GPB (I thought it may be a fluke). It has been for sale forever, and I thought it was special simply because it was a 2 lp set with songs from George, Cat, and Elton. I wasn't concerned about the monetary value, so much as I wanted a new and different Cat album for my collection. Oh well live and learn. so if you have one of these records...yay for you and can I hab it?!
...I think I'll sell mine... don't like it very much... I'm curious, which price it will bring

Don't worry M....I got one the next day for $35-$40. With all thanks to a Majicatter with a lot better "search" skills than me, Jonathanzero!! He found a couple of copies elsewhere...and I bought one! I think the $2000 record is now reduced in price to $1275! Yep, and there it sits for more than 2 years...oh well! Um, I bought something else....a program/ticket from Cat's concert at the Philharmonic Hall in NYC. It's dated Nov 6, 1972 and is being promoted as part of his "Zimmering Tour". I thought that tour was only in Australia, but I've been wrong before. On the Majikat timeline it's listed as the "Moonshadow Tour", so I suppose that should be changed. It was yet another "something" I had never seen for sale....you know, seems like "When it rains, it pours!". Lots of neat things here lately. Still hopin' for that hat from Hamburg, or a pinky ring /earring from days gone by.... *sigh* a girl can dream, can't she? PS Had to add something...It's so funny to see how "precious" Cat was at this time in his career. Look at all the "rules" for show goers on the bottom of the program... 1) no pictures, 2) no recording, 3) and if you want to move about, do it between songs not during the show! Sheesh, I'm thinkin' dude had a little "diva attitude" working overtime! Wonder if clapping and dancing in the aisles was allowed?? Shoot, it'd end up like those music shows he did in the 60's....everybody sitting like "lumps on a log" while he's singin' and dancin' his little butt off! Not for me!! Attachments:

oh gosh I remember that tour!!!!! richina . how much would you pay for a pinky ring ??!! I"m sure there area couple out there somewhere ....... Duh, I'm thinkin' taking out a loan wouldn't be out of the question!!! . How neat would that be??? I'd never take it off or wash it...ever! C'mon Yusie dear...cut loose an old ring, a hat, a little pocket fuzz.....anything! Puhleeze! ;D And as far as remembering that tour....when I was 13, I wasn't concerned with any show other than those coming to my own backyard (Civic Center). I was only in 8th grade and very much aware of Cat , but boys, horses, and gymnastics were definitely higher on my list!

Just have to echo Blossom's WOW! These are amazing, Richina - love the oil painting - and I can completely understand your frustration over the eBay LP.
The handkerchief is amazing - kept and treasured all these years. I know it's in good hands now, too!
In awe of your collecting expertise!! (I have just bought myself a "Teaser" book on eBay, so I'm subscribing to the collecting bug in a very small way!)

Not so at Shrewsbury Music Hall in 1967, we were dancing our feet off and singing lustily in time with Cat's songs. Totally awesome concert. ;D Badco.

Richina - with all this talk of instrumental versions - you do have that Bluegrass tribute CD, I hope Hey Trottsie!! I must admit I don't have that CD. I've seen it for sale but the only person I want to hear doing Cat songs is....well, Cat! I'm sure it's interesting...just not my cup of tea. And anyway, we've got a place in south Mississippi, and have friends who play Bluegrass....just don't know how it would sound if they were playing "Tuesday's Dead"! Guess I'm just too musically closed minded.... But I can say I wish Yusuf would do an album of Blues...his voice seems well suited to that genre I think. What memorabilia have you gotten lately...anything good??

Love the Foreigner acetate - how unusual! Oh heck, it's a slippery slope, I know! Once you start, how can you stop? ;D Richina, I recently got the 12 language softback Teaser - got it for a very, very bargain price on eBay. It was marked "acceptable" and as I'd seen the battered one that Yusuf posted on his Facebook, I thought I'd be in good company if it was scruffy, but when it arrived, it there was one age mark on the front cover and I'd swear the book had never been opened! Anyway, I was delighted! But nothing else. I'm not buying anything else Promise!!! Love to see all your wonderful purchases - thank you so much for sharing them with us! Jo x

Richina,
Yes - I can understand wanting to hear Yusuf play his own songs. I think I only picked up the Bluegrass CD about ten years ago because it was only 2.99. I listened to it then and remember liking it.
Have you listened to the Foreigner Acetate? This is earlier then a test pressing, so there is a good chance that this could have earlier mixes of the songs. They're heavy things aren't they?
I have a Bob Dylan one that just has one song on it - nothing unreleased though. I also have a Tom Waits one where he wrote some lyrics on the cover and has a slightly different version of one of the songs (Asylum record lawyers made him delete a reference to Jayne Meadows).
Nothing else new re: Cat / Yusuf.

Just seen this on Yusufs FB..thought it may interest our 'squirrels'.. Paul Davis Heartfelt greetings to a life long inspiration. I had the good fortune to see 2 of your live concerts in L.A. One of them was for the 'Catch Bull at Four" Tour. I got a back stage pass from your mgr. Barry. This was the thrill of my life as I had been so moved by all of your music and mesmerized by your voice. Anyway, I would like to donate that pass, which is actually about a 2 1/2" button with white background and the bull and boy in black. I am willing to give it to some fan/collector who is willing to make the respectable donation to a "Food" charity like Feed the Children. I don't know how to work this out but I am willing to listen to suggestions. As a "pin" it's just a pin. As a "Cat Stevens" collectable, and with the inspiration from his music, I hope this small token can bring a few meals to someone. The $ should go directly to the charity and NOT through me. I just need some assurance the charity gets the donation. Wanting to help and trust. Sincerely, Paul

Made for a short time to help encourage kids to read. It includes a 45 rpm, operator's manual (exercise book) and a full size poster... it also makes its own carrying case!! Neat!! That's all for now...I am working on a couple more things though. Will keep you advised!! Not that you really, really care....we just need something to talk about. *sigh* I hate it when Yusie has to rest.....

Possibly the lady holding the vase is "the woman who made the rain come"?? Very nice poster...you actually have one that is slightly offset, which makes it a little more scarce! Keep up the good work, and again, us collectors gotta stick together! :) And yes, that IS the woman who made the rain come.
