I must say it's incredible the amount of misinformation flying around tonight about Yusuf. Someone's stated in an article that this (the induction) might "signal a return to the spotlight after decades of not performing". Uh, hello? He's been back for ten years and it takes a minute on the internet to find that out, come on.
In any case, congratulations to Yusuf for this well deserved accolade and thank you for the gift of your music and talent.

HI All !!! I just got back from the Induction !!! It was fantastic .. I met so many people Jackson Brown , Paul Schaeffer Swizzz Beats Seymour Stein,Hall and Oates,Courtney Love, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band .. everyone was at the dinner up on 2nd level for an hour and a half it was like a huge loft part .. with all the most amazing people and such a creative flow!!
They inducted Peter Gabriel first, then CAT!!! Art Garfunkel inducted him and Yusuf mentioned his son .. he needed water so Yoriyos brought it to him and it was nice he said thats my son! I had a wonderful time talking to Yoriyos at rehearsals and also Yusuf and got photos too ..I'm not much of a photo asker but with the Induction I really wanted one because it was a journey and he knew he was home .. and he said that too! 'He sang "Father and Son" first , then "Wild World", and then "Peace Train" I was sitting in the floor areas at table and had a great view . I took some photos but wanted to get here to tell you abit.. Art Garfunkel said that he gave Cat his break because Simon and Garfunkel went away for a bit leaving Cat a chance to have a career .. whatever he was trying to say was very funny .. He also mentioned that was seeker.. and was very well known for those chord changes .. like in Wild World ... they were so original and him ... I have to say from what I heard .. CAT got the best applause and a rush of applause for a good long while .. America and his peers were so happy to have him back .. He got a bigger applause than the KISS Army and that was pretty big ..
I hope they put a video out of Peace Train because it was really good too!! the back up singers did a great job!!!! xo Oh he also thanked everyone for "carrying him " to here .. he knows it wasn't all on his own .. the fans and all who carried him .. but first the first love of his life his mother.. oh .. it was so tender could hear a pin drop everyone had gone deep into their heart on that one when Cat/Yusuf said that .. xxooxo it was beautiful xoxoxo now that was beautiful when he said that .. it was a beautiful talk .. I recorded some of it and just put the darn phone down to envelop it all xxoo youtu.be/l3tNh7zOKbg video of one of the performances and some nice close ups.
Ok nighty night for now !!!
I will try to remember more !!!!! just so exhausted from watching all the rehearsals of all the artists and then meeting them Oh at rehearsals he kept saying he missed Alun .. it hurt my heart hearing him say that .. and in his acception speech .. he thank Alun very much so too .. beautiful !!! x
I'm sooooooooooooooooo over the mooon about CAT getting in .. he was happy .. he had quite the last few days too!! he has a blast on the Jimmy Fallon Show have you seen the videos .. I copped some tickets from a dear friend and go in to see it LIVE!!! It was amazing !!!!!!! ok nightnight!!! Aurarisma

Christina, thank you so much for posting this fantastic eyewitness account of last evening's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. We at Majicat are fortunate, indeed, to have had such an ace correspondent at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, USA. We owe you much! Your rich, detailed description has enabled me, and all of our fellow Majicatters, to experience Yusuf's ascendacy into the Hall in vivid terms. This AM, it was stated on a local morning show that Yusuf's exchange with his son Yoriyos, combined with his performance of "Father & Son" was one of the high points of the evening. As he never fails to do, Yusuf made us proud, as have you, Christina, with your marvelous first-hand account. Congratulations to Yusuf on this well-earned, well-deserved honor! And many thanks to you, Christina. -Bud

Art G.'s quote from his introduction and induction of Yusuf into the R&R HOF are priceless: “Sensitivity with a bass voice — I should have thought of that,” he lamented cheekily at one point. Later, he quipped: “This guy’s better than Paul Simon!” Great stuff! And thank you, Charles, for another great link! -Bud

And these words from our beloved honoree, in addressing the paradox of his peace-loving, clean-living self being elected to the Hall of Fame: “[He] doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t throw televisions out of hotel rooms and only sleeps with his wife,” Islam said. “I’d say it was a very brave decision — and one which was unexpected and strangely, outrageously rock & roll.” Perfect, Yusuf, spot on! -Bud

Hi everyone, Just want to report on last night's induction ceremony! It was so fantastic. Yusuf's speech was wonderful- he gave thanks to his mother for singing to him as a child. He spoke about all the musicians that influenced him-having high praise for Beethoven! And, of course, he was very funny at times; making reference to the fact that he was surprised he was inducted as he doesn't drink or smoke, doesn't throw TV's out of windows, and only sleeps with his wife! He sang father and son, wild world, and peace train-obvious choices. The audience was up on their feet and singing every word. It was a wonderful experience to be there with all those talents, and to see Yusuf get his well deserved award. Would have loved to have shook his hand though! Maybe next time
