Does anyone know if the interview was shown on the Community Channel? Although I saw Yusuf's performance I didn't watch the whole concert.

Well after saying I'd never heard of the community channel, I was flicking through all the channels last night and guess what, Telewest has given me the channel free for one month. So thanks to LadyD, if you hadn't posted this info I probably wouldn't have even bothered to look at the channel. As it is I caught the repeat performance today so saw Yusuf uncut, great ;D

Well I have to admit I think Yusuf looks over 30 Vivian :)Especially when the grey is showing, but he still looks damn good for 55 years.

I just wish I'd come on the computer earlier today, when I could have gone out and bought the paper with the article in, its virtually impossible to find a Sunday paper left in the shops on a Monday

My son is taking his mock German GCSE exam this week, the teacher, who is German, says he is very good. We are considering Germany for our holiday next summer, whenever we have met any Germans they have always been extrememly friendly. When my son was 3 years old we spent a while in Hungary and his best friend there was a little boy from Germany called Dennis, they got on great even though they couldn't understand a word they said to each other.

i think i liked it so much because he seems to have gotten a bit wiser in dealing with the press; i loved the tape recorder bit (you go, yusuf!) and i loved how when he was questioned about past romances, he directed the conversation back to where it was meant to be... it must be difficult to have to address a significantly short period in your life for the REST of your life. while i think he's settled with his past, and even sees the good of it, i can understand the weariness of having to live it over and over and over again, and the eagerness, in interviews, to get to the 'nows' . It must be particularly difficult for him because he is so clearly excited and enthusiastic about his 'now'. if i had to feild questions about a five year period of my life that happened any more than..well, five years ago, i'd be lost. God help me if all of my wierdness were chronicled in articles and interviews that seem to live forever! but that was who he was, and if he hadn't been 'that' person he would not have evolved into 'this' person; but again, must be frustrating as all get out to want to talk about today and to continue to be portrayed as 'yesterday' if you know what i mean. still, i really liked the article. again, i wish they picked a different cover picture. i mean really, there are a billion pics out there.. i have a nice one of him holding his guitar, that would have worked....oh well. Thats a great post Colleen and of course you're so right, I'd never really thought of it that way before but of course it must be tiresome to keep on being asked the same old questions all the time.

Ahhh! I see! I don't know what channel ITV is. I don't watch tv very much and I'm not familiar with that channel. Is it cable or upper channel cable? Faithfullight Yes, as Christine says ITV is a UK channel, I finally saw the advert myself tonight and as Gizmo said it was an advert for Tesco Stores. They show clips of the DVD, while some of the songs from the CD are playing. He is definately getting a lot of attention here at the moment. Plus my sister has sold a few copies now in the store she works at and tells all the customers that I went to London to see him on Monday night, lol.

Gosh! I wonder why "she is under strict instructions to keep playing Cat's CD"? The manager must really like Cat Stevens! Hmmmm. Which tv station did you see the CD advertised? Peace, Faithfullight My sister's allowed to choose the music she plays, her instructions are from me, lol I intend to brainwash the staff and customers into buying Cat's cd to get it to no. 1. I haven't seen the advert myself, but my mom usually watches ITV so I assume it must be on there.

Did any of you get to see the interview on Sky News, I think it was the best yet. I have it on videotape, is there a way to download this onto the site, if you are unable to see it elsewhere?

I watched the interview on the BBC, which was great, Yusuf seems very relaxed about Monday. He won't be singing any of his old songs, I don't think we expected him too, but he implied he may sing Peace Train. Roll on 11.30, I've got Sky news on ready.
Thanks for posting the info on these interviews Joanne, I would have missed them.

Cristalina, Why do many of the 'disabled' feel that Christopher makes them feel that their life, as they are, is useless? I should have thought that he protrayed that people confined to a wheelchair do have full and active lives regardless of their disability. I thought that it would be better for him to be exposed to help people at large embrace 'disabled circles'. And I think that it is extremely wonderful that he is striving so hard to help researchers find remedies and possible future cures. I don't have a disability, and maybe if I did then I could see more clearly what you mean. Surely Christopher is seen as someone who trying to help. Faithfullight The disabled feel that Christopher Reeve doesn't accept his disability and needs to walk again to feel complete. It is the same as offering a pregnant woman scanning to detect a defect, so giving her the choice to abort the baby. The disabled want to be accepted as they are and not changed. I have a son who uses a wheelchair and I think I can see arguements on both sides.

Great photos, Ali looks well considering what he has been through. I'm afraid Christopher Reeve isn't so well thought of here in the 'disabled circles'. Many of the disabled feel he is giving false hope to those with spinal injuries, plus he makes them feel as if their life, as they are, is useless. Many have full and active lives and accept their disability.

Hey Vivian, Born the Nine spoke to someone who knows your friend while in was in Convent Garden, unfortunately he wasn't there at that time, but he's gone back down to London today so perhaps he'll get chance to see him this time.
Haven't made any plans yet as to whether I will be staying the night in London or driving straight home.

Yeah he is a very humble and modest guy. He came to a mosque on the corner of my street (where I live) and read the islamic call for prayer, and he also sang some of his islamic songs (nasheeds). This mosque is like tiny, I mean really tiny, and it is in the middle of nowhere. There was no announcement that he was going to turn up and he just showed up out of the blue. He came in a silver Jaguar and no-one noticed it was him until the mosque leader announced his name. As you all know he never really wanted fame as a result of his songs, and he emphasised this by visiting probably one of the the smallest mosque in Britain without making any arrangements. He is one relaxed down to earth dude and we respect him for that. Peace, Gizmo Are you saying Yusuf came to the mosque in Birmingham and I could have been waiting there with my camera to photograph him getting out of his silver jag, oh if he'd only let us know he was coming. Hey do you think its worth loitering round the mosques just in case LOL, only joking.

I have stayed at the Scouts Association before, not as posh as an hotel, but clean with everything you need, plus its very close to the concert hall. Its £69 for a single room £40 each for twin bedded room £32 each in a family room which will sleep 4 You can view the rooms online at www.scoutbase.org.ukgo to the link for Headquarters, then scroll down the page to Baden Powell House ( you don't need to be a scout by the way)

Wish ALL you guys were coming Unfortunately I'm not going to be arriving in London until about 6pm, so will probably go straight to the RAH, what time are you all planning on going to the hall? I assume you will be arriving in a group. I'll be in Row 7 with my husband, seats 4 & 5 ;D, hopefully we'll get a chance to meet before the concert starts.
