Twice within 6 hours!! Have been in Bonn, our former capitol, for two days on a workshop. Wednesday evening I had a date in Cologne with a friend from the old schoolyard. On the way to the station in the taxi they played PEACETRAIN on the radio. After return I joined my colleagues at the hotel bar at midnight and had been welcomed with WILD WORLD ;D

According to my son, Cat Stevens was mentioned in an episode of the cable TV spy thriller "Rubicon" which aired last summer.

I went to my sister's new boyfriend's home this past weekend. It was the first time I'd been there. He is an artist and a fantastic sculptor. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I walked into his living room to be greeted by a large portrait of Cat Stevens hanging on the wall. He made it when he was in his twenties, recently found it, and had it framed and hung because he knew my sister was a Cat fan. I think it pleased me more than anyone though. It's pretty nice. I meant to take a picture to show you guys but forgot

You mean the actual photo he copied - I believe it's the back cover of either Tillerman or Teaser but I have not had a chance to look. I will definitely take a photo of it next time I am there. I definitely recognized it - you guys would have known right off the bat.

Hi Folks, I apologize if the following 'Cat/Yusuf spotting' has previously been referenced on Majicat, but as I was watching TV last night, a most pleasant guitar melody was heard playing under a JP Morgan Chase ad. I found it quite catchy, too! ;D -Bud

I don't know if this qualifies as "Catspotting" exactly, but I had a nice surprise this afternoon. Got in my car and the radio was on playing "Morning Has Broken" but it wasn't Cat. I don't know who it was, but I swear it sounded like Josh Groban - can't find any evidence that he's ever recorded it. Anyone know? It was very nice, whoever it was.

Seen a few minutes ago: "Morning Has Broken" on a Radio-Canada TV show called "En direct de l'univers" (Live From the Universe). It was sung by Quebec artist Laurence Jalbert. Every week a Quebec personality (actor, musician, politician) is invited to share their taste in music. Tonight was Quebec City mayor Régis Labeaume, this was the song of his first love.
Yusuf really needs to come back here, he has legions of fans in Québec! Yeah, I know, I'm repeating myself but maybe the message will get through!

Strictly guessing, here, but what you may have heard is one of two renditions of "Morning Has Broken" that Art Garfunkel has recorded. One, which Art recorded solo, appears on his album (CD) "Songs From A Parent To A Child", and the other is one that he performed with the Irish group, "The Chieftains", and pianist Diana Krall. This selection appears on the album "The Chieftains: The Wide World Over". They are both very nice efforts! -Bud

Hm...I would love to find out, still. It wasn't piano/guitar, it was kind of violiny. I'll do some more Googling when I get a chance. Having a busy, busy, busy, busy week! Thanks Bud!

I completely forgot - I was in the airport on Tuesday and there was a kiosk selling CDs of harp music. "Morning Has Broken" was playing as I walked by.
PS - Gabi: do I have to wait until Hamburg to see the new hair?

Watching an old TV series called "Life on Mars" about a guy who has an accident in 2008? I think and gets transported back to 1973 - cool show that really captures those years, if you are interested, including a music soundtrack that is all the 70's hits -- Tuesday's Dead got a full play! ps I just checked, actually the episode title is 'Tuesday's Dead' too I thought it was nice they used a somewhat 'lesser known' song, not the same old, same old they always use like 'Wild World' etc.

That's very cool Lady D that they chose Tuesday'd Dead - and I think it would be fun to check out that series and get a blast from the past. I never realized how amazing the music from the 70's was until the present - we really took it for granted at the time. Now looking back - you're a little in awe of it. I was just giving my kids a sample on youtube of some of the classic stuff and my daughter said "how embarrassing for me if I try to do this with my daughter" Off topic - sorry

Just finished watching 'Mr. Sunshine'. James Taylor was on it. Matthew Perry asked him if he knew any 'Cat Stevens' songs. James Taylors expression was priceless

I was listening to this song as I was skipping up the subway stairs as if each step on subway stairs was a key from the piano he was playing ... I was skippping up the stairs .....what do people think ?? hahahehehehe anyway>>> there was a young man playing a white electric guitar so I took one earphone out.. and it was magnificent how his spontaneous playing chimed in so nicely with this song.... it was magical~~!! It was like a "mashup" is anyone familiar with those heavenly moment on amost glorious sunny day in Nyc ..

I loved hearing my Mom's reaction when she heard Don't Be Shy in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. She was watching it with my 4 yr old son, I heard her say to him that's Cat Stevens. That was one of Gram's favorite songs.
