Spotted an autographed guitar on TV tonight. Quebec artist-comedian-actor Michel Barrette is known for collecting all kinds of stuff. Part of his collection is on display all summer in Chicoutimi QC at the regional museum La Pulperie in the Saguenay region.
I had heard him mention a Cat Stevens autographed guitar before and low and behold, I spotted it during the interview he was giving about the exhibit. Couldn't identify the guitar, it was too quick. I seem to remember hearing him say it was one of Steve's original guitars but don't quote me on this. Anyway, nice little spotting.
"The Story behing the Object" exhibit, from June 15 to October 6.
Can't see the guitar here but this is a video promoting the exhibition:

I picked up the novel "Shake!" by Yvonne Roberts (published in 2004) at a library book sale. It's a humorous, yet poignant story of a girl growing up in Wales in the 1960s. At one point the main character goes to London to interview for university. She buys presents for her family back home. On page 262: "I buy Dulcie a Cat Stevens record, 'Matthew and Son', and a gruesome paperback for Kath." Another siting was on a listing for The 1970s Cafe in Delhi, India. www.buzzintown.com/delhi/restaurant--the-1970s-cafe-hauz-khas-village-hauz-khas/id--79807.htmlThe listing includes this photo: My heart always jumps a bit when I stumble upon mention/pic of Cat Stevens when I least expect it.

This is a bit of a strech for catspotting but....
I heard a man whistling "Father & Son" in the parking lot of my grocery store as I was getting out of my car. I think I surprised him a bit when I said: "good tune, Father & Son, eh?" He replied: "you bet"!

I'm relatively knew here, but I just remembered something from 1994 and I had a hand in it. In season 2 on the television show ER, the episode called Home, Nurse Hathaway enters through triage in street clothes to get to work. She talks other nurses about her day moving her stuff out of her mother's house, once and for all, how hard that sometimes is. We've all had to make that final slice, so to speak, right? Well, I wrote the episode and went into props (all the cool stuff used as background in film and television, looks like a junkyard). I had a look at some old album covers. There was Teaser and the Firecat. Right before the shoot, I asked Julianna Margulies (Ms. Hathaway) if she'd come into the scene holding these three records under her arm, like she had dug them up at mom's and couldn't let them be tossed away. That was what the scene was about. I put Cat in there a nod to him, whose music I grew up with.

How cool is that? Thank you for sharing Tracey.

Roy and I were watching a show on PBS and there was an ad for an upcoming show next week on the Nature series. The show is called "Touching the Wild" and "Miles from Nowhere" was playing in the background. Here's the link (for as long as it remains posted) video.pbs.org/video/2365171773/If the first link doesn't work, try this one" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct0jdskzhGk

Caught a movie on SuperChannel on this Mother's Day, "Bringing Up Bobby" with actress Milla Jovovich.
Plot from IMDB:
"A con artist moves her son to a conservative neighborhood in Oklahoma in an effort to build a better future, but it doesn't take long for her past to catch up with her, and for her son's behavior to cause problems of its own."
And... "Trouble" came up, all of a sudden:
Also in this movie, Jorma Kaukonen beautiful ballad "Genesis" from his famous solo album "QUAH" which was a nice "spotting" as well for me. I'm bending the rule a little here, for those who don't know the song:

Last night I was watching a movie called "Martian Child", and caught "Don't Be Shy" in the middle of the story. And the most interesting part to know too is the main character played by actor John Cusack named "David Gordon" ...and both came up, all of a sudden too.

Three sightings in two days! Maybe someone's trying to tell me something... First, in yesterday's newspaper (see below), an article on "Le Studio's" owner André Perry getting an honorary degree from Laval University in Quebec City. The article came with pictures of individual artists and bands who recorded at the famous residential studio in Morin Heights, including our Cat. More on André Perry and "Le Studio": majicat.proboards.com/thread/1622/andr-perry-remembersAlso in yesterday's paper, a Quebec artist citing Cat Stevens as a major influence. And thirdly, woke up this morning to a version of "Sad Lisa" by Canadian violinist Roxane de Lafontaine, playing on the clock radio.

I well remember the excellent and finely-detailed article that you posted here on Majicat about Andre Perry and his legendary "Le Studio" in Morin Heights. What a magical/majical/musical place that was! -Bud

Yet more folks. On Steve Wright in the Afternoon link below, Rick Wakeman talks about how proud he was of making Morning Has Broken with Cat Stevens. He plays the whole song but, fortunately we're told, doesn't sing! Here is the link which works ONLY FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS! Catch it if you can. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b047bxm9PS Scroll down and they have just Rick's piece on the show so you don't have to trawl through the whole thing! Best to all, Chris

The night before you posted this, I found a Rick Wakeman audio concert while looking for Cat Stevens shows. The concert is from May 10 at Llandodno Venue Cymrue, Wales and it has the complete set of "Journey to the Center of the Earth". But before that, there is a short first part where he talks about Cat Stevens and thanks him for teaching him perseverance. Apparently, Island didn't want to include "Morning Has Broken" on Teaser and Steve fought tooth and nail so that it would be included. I do not remember this, so that's kind of a neat anecdote. Rick then proceeds and does "Morning Has Broken" with the English Chamber Choir. It's a nice number but I still prefer when Rick does it as an instrumental piano piece only, such as this one: majicat.proboards.com/thread/4226/rick-wakeman-morning-broken-live

I just watched the 1972 film, "The Pied Piper" for free on Hulu.com. It's free for the next 14 days. It has Donovan as the Piper. I've always liked Donovan (though not as much as I love Cat Stevens/Yusuf . The film is quite dark and is very 70s in feel. I was reading the reviews of the film on Amazon and someone who didn't care for the film commented, "Some of the cast is awfully miscast: Donovan makes no difference whether he is or not on screen (I would preferred Cat Stevens in his place, for one) and Jack Wild could be anyone else for that matter, such is the dilettantism of his acting." Cat Stevens would have been perfect for the role of the soft-spoken, mysterious and magical Piper!

Was watching the TV show "Elementary" with Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu last night and, at the end of the show, heard "Cat and the Dog Trap" playing in the background. It was exciting to hear one of the new songs being used and not just the golden oldies.
