No doubt everyone has seen (heard) the Greys Anatomy commercial with the theme song "The First Cut is the Deepest" It stops me in my tracks everytime, even if it is Sheryl Crows version.

LOL thats to funny Lucy!
But I agree with Ladyd, it's really nice to hear yusuf in unexpected places. I heard him once when I went on vacation in of all places, Glacier National Park. I went into the campground store to get a few odds and ends. Not only were they playing Cat, they had the whole Tea For The Tillerman playing on their cd player. Talk about unexpected.

I once went to Dahab, a beduin village in Egypt, for freediving. We were having dinner at the same cafe called Friend's. I nearly choked with my beer when i heard "where do the children play" playing there!! they had a greatest hits cd that "a friend gave to us" they said:) it was unexpected and ....a bit magical id say:) it was a first time id hear cats music played somewhere else but my player:))

awwww, what a cute story!!
I didn't think the announcer was too bad, it was only right at the end - most of the commercial was just Cat's song. Excellent!!
Thank you, LadyD! ;D

I was in a local Marshall's store at lunchtime on Friday when what to my wondering ears did I hear but "Heaven/Where True Love Goes"! I almost fell over! And then I had to stop and listen (since I hadn't heard any of the songs on the new album). I was so impressed with what I heard that I bought the CD that evening and have been listening to it ever since!

While I was out shopping today, I heard "I've Got A Thing About Seeing My Grandson Grow Old" playing in the store 'Tuesday Morning'. I've heard other cat songs in stores before but never a rare songs such as this.

This is from an interview with Ronan Keating in Live magazine, 31/12/06 (which is a supplement of The Mail on Sunday) UK "The record that got me where I am today, Father and Son by Cat Stevens. I sang this at the audition for Boyzone. We had a hit with it later and then I got to sing it with Cat Stevens himself on my solo album." Also the same magazine, 7/1/07, in an interview with James Morrison, "The most precious record in my collection, Greatest Hits by Cat Stevens. It has no monetary value but I love the songs. We share the same label and I was lucky enough to see him play the songs from his new album the other day - they sound as good as the ones from 25 years ago." Wasn't he lucky

I was watching Heroes tonight and noticed they showed the G.E. commercial that was mentioned earlier on this thread. It was the exact same commercial, but they had replaced the song. It no longer plays 'The Wind', but instead plays the Donovan classic 'Catch The Wind'

I watched 'Something about Mary' last night as well, it's one of my favorite movies. They mentioned H & M 2 or 3 times during the course of the movie. You have good taste in movies, The Wind.

Just came from supermarket. They usualy play stuff lika Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, blah-blah-blah....all those mtv starlets, you know. Imagine how happy i was to hear "Wild world" today from the speakers! It wasnt Cat singing - it was some raggae variant, but still it was so nice to hear so familiar and sweet words. You never hear Cat here in Moscow. Only Boyzone singing father and son - and only the vid on mtv. Continued picking up stuff smiling

Last night I had a nice moment at the grocery store (Safeway). “Maybe There’s a World” came through the music system, which was great…and what made it even better was to have my 12 year old daughter’s head snap to attention at the same time as mine did and together we both said “Yusuf!” with big delighted smiles.
Shopping for bread and salad dressing should always be this much fun.
