We should get 3 tickets and take Jane between us :-)) Between her singing and clapping and dancing and trying to get on that stage, there is no way I would enjoy the concert with Richina sitting next to me - exhausting! BUT - would be lots of fun at the stage door!

I've just received mine today - it's wonderful! I totally agree about the brilliant reggae rehearsal section and... oh I just loved the whole thing! My husband fell asleep during the DVD , but since Yusuf said his brother falls asleep to his music too, maybe he's in good company!!! Jo

Would like to see and hear a bit more of the audience - clapping and singing?! Richina, you won't believe it, even with Tuesday's Dead they all stay seated - just one grey-haired woman dancing How does anyone sit through Tuesday's Dead? ("cept maybe Jane ) Oh well, there will be a brown haired woman dancin' to it if I have a chance! ;D And I like to hear clapping too...really makes you feel like you're there! I've been known to clap and whoot while listening to a live album! What can I say...I is what I is! ;D These threads just broke me up - and trust me I need to laugh - thank you "ladies"..............LOL!

I got mine yesterday and have since watched it twice!!
But I must say I am disappointed by the absence of Where do the Children Play, Rubylove, Ruins and Peace Train :-(
The rehearsal footage is well worth having a look at though! Yusuf does an awesome Bob Marley style version of Remember the Days of the Old Schoolyard!!!!

I'm really looking forward to mine arriving. Shouldn't be long if other Europeans have got theirs. The UK postal network is slow due to weather now, but hopefully it will be here soon. But I must say I am disappointed by the absence of Where do the Children Play, Rubylove, Ruins and Peace Train :-( It's really strange they left those key Cat songs off the DVD. According to a webmasters comment on Yusuf's site: I've got concerts on DVD that are 2 hours or longer, so I'm not sure why length would be such an issue.

Regi, the thing about Yusuf's brother falling asleep during his music is something he says on the DVD. He refers to his brother George, who's eighty, apparently, who says he goes to sleep listening to the music. Yusuf thinks he should take it as a compliment! I didn't even know he had another brother - I'm assuming he did mean an actual brother, of course. Wambaugh, I hope you've had your DVD by now and that you're enjoying it. Horrible weather that so much of the UK and Europe is having at the moment - doesn't it make you want to be in Australia? Jo

I've been astonished too to hear about a 80 year old brother called George, living in Greece. He's not mentioned anywhere. But that's what Yusuf tells us on the DVD. But as Yusuf's father married Ingrid at the age of 38 - it may well be, that there are some earlier children :-)

Wasn't George a musician too? Bouzoukia player I think, I may be wrong.

There is an article from NME June 23, 1973 , called Cat Stevens and a Revolution in Athens that has information and a pic of Yusuf's brother. Go to the Articles section of Majicat and scroll down.

Thank you, bookworm! Excellent find! Here's the link: Cat Stevens And A Revolution In Athens and a quote: Although he was brought up in London, his family is related to Greece by less than one generation. He’s more than just another tourist passing through. Why, even the commissionaire at the next-door hotel turns out to be George, his half-brother. Explains Stevens:
"My father was born in Greece and brought up a family before coming to London and doing it all over again." ~Sun~

Oh, and here's the picture that bookworm mentioned: Cat Stevens and his half-brother George Georgiou, a pavement re-union in Athens.
And here's another quote: [Cat Stevens is] a complicated man, a stark contrast to his half-brother who has now joined us, a simple straightforward soul.
"You know, the family [is] proud of Steve," says George the Commissionaire, with a pleased smile: "Very proud indeed." So sweet! ~Sun~

I must be getting on in years ;D Remember that Canadian article I posted (and typed!) about Cat recording in Morin Heights? That's where I read it (duh): "I used to go with Dad to a gambling club and sit around digging the music while he - I don't really know what he was doing," Stevens says with a smile, one of very few that long afternoon. My half-brother, George Georgiou, is a professional bouzouki player.majicat.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=catstevens&action=display&thread=3373Scroll down to second article.

Oh, good memory, Glaucus! It's not age, it's that you have so much information in your mind to search through. Great thread - I'm gonna disappear and read the whole thing. Thanks, Glaucus ~Sun~
