I've got my pouty face on, my lip poked out, and need to vent....so here goes!A couple of days ago I found an album on Ebay that was an orchestra playing Cat Stevens songs. It didn't look like much, but since I hadn't seen it before, I decided to bid on it. www.chrisspedding.com/session/mb/mb6.jpg [/img] It was done in 1972 and this same orchestra had also covered songs from George Harrison, Elton John, Bob Dylan, etc. (greats of the day) Opening bid was 5 GBP, but the seller only shipped within the UK. I wrote and asked if he would ship to US, how much it would be, and to change the listing so I could place a bid. He replied he could ship to USA, but needed to check postage rates. The next day (Monday), the listing was ended. I waited a day, to give him time, then inquired again about getting the album. He told me they had so much response to the lp that they decided to do some research....the couple was told the album was very rare and worth 2000 GPB!! The guy went so far as to apologize for my trouble, and offered to send me some free albums....no thanks! He told me he would have to be crazy to sell the lp for such little money, and if I wanted to make him a reasonable offer...he would entertain it! Yeah, right! Que sera sera! PS I had seen another album by this orchestra on Ebay and it too was priced at 2000 GPB (I thought it may be a fluke). It has been for sale forever, and I thought it was special simply because it was a 2 lp set with songs from George, Cat, and Elton. I wasn't concerned about the monetary value, so much as I wanted a new and different Cat album for my collection. Oh well live and learn. so if you have one of these records...yay for you and can I hab it?!

Hi Richina, what a fargin ice-hole he turned out to be! lol, not really hee hee, but wow, what a turn-around after his initial asking price! My first thoughts when he offered you some albums was maybe he could've recorded a copy of the album for you! Anyway, I don't know how much the album in and of itself interests you, but it would seem that it has potential for a worthy listen. I did some searching around after reading your post and while there's not much out there regarding the album, I did find 2 sites where the album is presently up for sale. Here are the links - the cheaper version seems to be in mint condition judging by the little write-up at the bottom. It will be interesting to hear a review on the record. Mike Batt - Keyboards and Chris Spedding - Guitars, doesn't sound bad at all... www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Batt-Mike-Portrait-of-Cat-Stevens/168213-5378252and the best of the 2 here: www.audiophileusa.com/item.cfm?record=59759&c=1&kw=PopLove & Peace Jon.

Just bought the one from Audiophile (the Discdogs copy was already sold)!!! I can't thank you enough Jonathan!! I'm going to send the "fargin ice-hole" an email to let him know. ;D I know that may seem like sour grapes....but I don't care. It is so fabulous that you went to all that trouble, and to be reminded how Majicatters take care of eachother!! Thanks again! smoochie-smooch-smooch!!

No no no no... that's not a vinyl record at all - it's actually an 'aerial' view of sorts, taken from the high ceiling of an exceptional ice-skating rink. It took a genius to get this up and running! Underneath the floor are state of the art sound receptors that actually engage with a clever grouping of audio signal transmitters built into specially designed 'skates'. I'm not up on the full details of course, but some of this information has been leaked out from the 'Wiki-speaky-leaky-leaks' site. Anyway, what happens is, when skaters skate around and over Cat's face, the album plays and is heard in special 3D immersive surround sound (no matter where you are in the rink)! Sounds like fun huh? I actually went there for the first time today in my imaginary-ation. What fun... wowsers!

been really loving my Saturnight CD , and finally got my Portrait of Cat Stevens by Mike Batt put on CD as well.. its quite lovely... I probably will sell that in the near future, and finally..... framed my "Two Fine People" original Ad for the single, I believe it has Psyche and Eros on it (marble sculpture) just beautiful .. I love that song . and goes nice next to my casting I made of the discus thrower. I think I'm going to be auctioning off one of the yo-yos I have and maybe a Catch Bull at Four Patch .. I have a couple .. .. have to get a selling account x

my latest treasure... a neat hand bill I'd never seen. The show features Protocol Harum / Cat and is dated April 18 197 ? I can't see the fine print, so maybe when I get it I'll be able to know more about when and where. I didn't see anything on the "Majicat Timeline" about this particular show. Anybody know anything?? PS The corresponding poster to this handbill sold for over $500 in November 2011.
