Welcome to the board Zombie, the more Cat fans the nicer it is. Another song that tickles me, is how he says " Bad Ole Debil will get you" in Music

I like the songs where he says the word BOY.
I just love these two lines, and I think it is the added touch of having the word BOY in them, that makes me love these lines so much. Silly I know.
Made it just in time, boy you've made it just in time.
Just keep on pushing hard boy, try as you may You're going to wind up where you started from <br>
Oh and I love his reference to Brother and Sister in Freezing Steel
But one of my favorite lines of all from Cat is from Freezing Steel "freak with out a face" Perhaps he watched a bit to much Twilight Zone before writing this song. drool L.O.L. I Love it.

Hey Play, No need to duck on this one. You are absolutely correct, it is definately more like a woman. I was just being silly, and seing if anyone would catch it.
But, I just love Portabelo Road, it has to be my favorite early song.

And I can't forget Portobella road, with that one famous line...
"everyone knows that dress will never fit her" isn't that just like a man??

Yes, even help in the planning of it. Another neat idea would be have the different regions have one at the same time, with the use of computers and the internet one could link all fest together for a media event. Just a thought. Hello H-H, Thanks for volunteering to help out, as I am not very good at these sort of things. The connecting through computers is a nice idea, if the area we are in has a library or cyber cafe we could use or if someone has a laptop which has internet hookup. I also like the idea of repeat business. Though the only problem I foresee with this is the cabins we used last year were a bit pricey. They were rented by the person rather than the cabin, so for a family of 4 or 5, if could become quite expensive. Though I really loved the beauty and the privacy of the place. <br> Anyway, I would like to hear what others think.

I agree, Vivian. Small Cat fest with in regions would be a nice way to bring people from the same region together, with out having to pay out for air fair and time off from work. Plus they are much easier to plan, than something as large scale as the NO event. OK, Lucy where are you? Also Hard-headed are you planning on joining us this time around if we are able to make some definate plans?

Lucy, I really hadn't thought about it much. Mostly because they were planning the big one in N.O.
But if you really want to do something, we can try something little again. I'm game, it would be nice to see everyone again. hippie

Jan, thanks for getting the ball rolling so to speak. Everything you mentioned, sounds very good to me. And if we can get everyone in the same hotel, in a block of rooms to keep everyone together it would be a lot of fun.
I suggest we don't have it Laborday weekend though, since that is the big weekend in Cleveland with all their long holiday weekend activities.
Anyway, I placed a small poll up to get some feel of which month we should have a Cat fest.

This is just a small poll to get a feel, to see which month people would prefer a Catfest to be in. I added July, but since July is just around the corner it may not be feasible to really have it in July. But you be the decision makers.

Hello Lovin, welcome to the site. I LOVE Van Morrison, so thank you for the wonderful Van link. I'm listening to the songs right now as I write this, they are fantastic. I really like Down the Road, I'll have to go out and get this CD. Thanks for the heads up. Van is my second favorite singer, with " Wonderful Remark" and " Into The Mystic" as my two favorite Van songs. Now wouldn't it have been fantastic to have been able to see these two greats on the same concert ticket?? Cat and Van together, that was always dream of mine.

Your quite right Vivian. I just recently heard a friends version of 'Into White'. I find myself listening to it almost more often than I listen to Cats own version. It's a wonderful rendition, Yusuf would really be impressed with it.

Here is a webpage where you can vote on the best cover songs of Cat Stevens. So far Dolly is winning. But then, there has only been 1 person who has voted. I was going to place my vote but my favorite cover isn't up on the list, which is Peace Train by Richie Havens. Anyway check out this site. covers.wiw.org/artist.php/438Another funny thing about this list, is that they list the awful Debbie Boone song ' You Light Up My Life' as a Cat Stevens song!!!

I agree Aisha, it is Cats MASTERPIECE. Though the only thing I can think of, is perhaps Foreigner is really an album before it's time. If Cat were popular today and wrote this gem today, I bet it would have a completely different reaction to the fans and critics, I remember being awestruck the first time I heard it on ABC in Concert.

Did you read Zoo World?
I couldn't help but smile when I read the part where he called " How Many Times' Cat Stevens' " Killing Me Softly' song. And suggested that Roberta Flack could sing it wonderfully, but yet he wasn't being mean about it.
It was just so nice to read a good review about Foreigner and the Foreigner Suite. Esp when magazines such as Rolling Stone loved to critisize Cats work. It is nice to know there were magazines and critics who gave Cat the credit he deserved on this masterpiece, by calling it the cover album.
I forgot to add that little tidbit on the article, so I am adding it here for you to read.
ZOO WORLD:
It's just a little tidbit, but I thought you may find it rewarding to see that Foreigner made it as Zoo Worlds pick for the best album in that 2 week period. :-)

LOL.... I'm there !
We could play them Donnie Osmond or David Cassidy tunes until they give into our demands..
Lets see... Julia Do Yo Love me, Puppy Love or give Cat the nomination?? Sounds like an easy choice to me. ;D

It's nice that the petition finally reached it's goal of 10,000 signatures. But I find it really quite sad that we had to resort to a petition in order for the Rock Hall Committee just to consider Cat for a nomination. They should have considered Cat long before the petition was started. They didn't need a petition to consider Michael Jackson or Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Dion, Simon and Garfunkle or even Paul Simon, so tell me why is Cat different? Why does Cat need a petition just to get as far as the nomination process??? Sorry if I sound a bit upset, but I think Cat should have been recognised by the HOF long ago, and with out us having to place him under there noses. He should have been recognised on his own merits. I really do not think the Petition will make one ounce of diference. If they can recognise Paul Simon twice, once as Simon & Garfunkle and once for his individual music, then why does it take a petition to place Cat just in the running for a nomination? I know you are excited about the petition Vivian, and it is nice to see how many great Cat fans there are out there. I hope I am wrong in my thinking about the Rock hall and the petition. And if I wrong I find it quite sad that we had to resort to a petition, when no one else had to.

No way! He can't be talking about '100 I Dream'...that's one of my very favorite songs. Isn't it nice how many people now days seem to quote 100 I Dream as one of their favorite songs. Lyrically I think it is a classic, with such lines as [shadow=yellow,left,700]'Stay true to your friends up until the end, and in this way you will awake'[/shadow] I mean how can you not like it. And then of course, add the african bungle beat of the drums. It's definately different from any other Cat song, but then again, that might be what gives it it's uniqueness. giggle

I agree Jan, I have always loved Cats instrumentals. I am especailly struck at the beauty of both 'The Artist' and 'Kypros' neither of which receives the acknowledgement they really should.
Another thing that amazes me is the amount of instruments Cat played and all of them quite successfully. He was one talented musician. I can not get myself to learn to play one lone guitar, and here he was with this multitudes of instruments, guitars, keybords, organs, polymoogs, penny whistles, and the list goes on. It just totally amazes me everytime I read the credits.

OK, this thread is to discuss Cats under-rated or less known songs. Such as 'Life', 'Father', 'How Many Time'. These are songs which are underscored because of the more popular songs on a CD or LP.
What is your favorite underated songs and why?

Hello. I'm also finally trying out majicat. What is the polychat room and the closed chatrooms for? Who is the personal chatroom talking with? Is it Christine? Is there a particular time that others join this site and converse through a live chat room? Can you give me a brief summary of what's happening? I kinda feel lost. Faithfullight Hello Faithfullight, It's nice to see you on Majicat. I've read the UK site and have read some of your post on it...So I wish to welcome you here :-) OK let me see if I can answer some of your questions. Polychat is an open chat room, where you can actually see if anyone is in it, you canread what others are witing, without them knowing you are there, and if you decide to join in the conversation you can. But unfortunately at the moment it isn't working very well, So I am considering getting rid of this particular feature. The Closed chat room or Majichat, is another chatroom which is a Java based chatroom where people can meet and chat live. It is sort of a hit miss type place. You really don't know if anyone is in it until you log onto it. Though I know a few people have been starting to use it a little more later in the evening. Usually around11:00PM EST. So you could try coming in at that time. Or you can always set up meeting with friends to chat in this room. It is a private room where you and the other people on it can read it, but no one else. There is also a feature here where you can write to each other through this message board. If you click on a persons name, then go down to send private message, you can send that person a letter, which they can retrieve and read right here on the board. It works like an email feature, but instead of using your email box, you use the private message feature on this board. Again, welcome to the site Faithfullight, I hope you like it here. giggle

Have any of you noticed how strange it is to be chatting with another Cat fan, and you both end up saying the exact same thing at the exact same time? This has happened to me on quite a few different occasions with a few different cat fans. It really give you a feeling of a certain connection in a way. It makes you wonder if we aren't connected in a way? I know Cat was very sesitive in matters such as these. As he thought many events in his life were predestined or a matter of fate. Makes you wonder, why so many Cat fans seem to have that very same feeling. That some of us feel a certain connect, not only to Cat but other Cat fansl? Sorry if this sounds silly, I just wondered if any one else has noticed this as well, or am I destined for the looney bin?

I always thought it was cute that in some of the old articles they would often refer to Cat as Stevie. There was something endearing about seeing Yusuf as a Stevie.

Mike it has been a while since I watched this particular concert. I will check it out. It's must be another one of Cat's recreation vs re- creation type moments.
