I used the email on the Maqam Centre site. You're welcome to email them and ask if they have determined the parameters yet. We would then need to resurrect the idea from scratch if someone wants to take it on.

Can anyone help?I have been trying in vain to find out what the progress is with this amazing project..I visited the site of the Maqam ages ago when the interior had not been finalised...and have noticed since then that the unique website for the Maqam is no longer there,Ii have emailed the Foundation and asked on Facebook on a couple of sites and emailed my Maqam contact ,but of no avail..no news to be had... has anyone got an update on this...will not be in London for a while and so cannot just mosey on by....I hope all is well?

Hi Sabina, I must admit that is a bit disturbing. Why would everything about it have disappeared? I don't know who your contact is but I can certainly try sending an email to mine. Taking down the website is, frankly, the most disturbing part of all.
Maybe Majid can offer some information if he pops in here again.

Hi Jane ..yes it is quite disturbing..not least that I had sponsored a tile....and I do hope that if something has gone deeply awry that we shall hear how our donations are being utilised..I try to remain optimistic though and hope to hear news soon..it will be great if your contact comes through and our minds can be put at rest.........

Hyacinth could have done with you however ..... Went to the Muslim Cultural Heritage centre in Golborne Road in London..asked about Maqam..they knew NOTHING about it??? well anyway the lovely sisters on Reception and myself did some digging..(I have had NO response from Yusuf Foundation or Small kindness) and this is as much as we could come up with... Hurrah !! It is and will still happen...interestingly.... 'The Maqam Centre The Maqam Centre promises to be a unique and exciting addition to London’s multicultural landscape. Its holistic approach is centred around a range of exhibition, arts and well-being spaces, aimed at drawing a balance between the mind, body and spirit. The focus of the centre will be peace, knowledge and health, enforced through a multitude of activities, seminars and community-based events.' www.cllrdenselow.com/maqam-centre-updates/

I hate to be the cynic here, but something still doesn't seem right. They have only raised a third of the money to build this, but they have taken down the website? The Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre knew nothing about it? How can you raise money for something with no awareness? If you need to raise money for a project, you keep it on everyone's radar - you don't hide it away.

Indeed that's all very doubtful ...it's better and much more important to build a museum in the old Moulin Rouge... anyway

Yes Jane.Guess there could be many complex issues..that we can never be party too....I suspect that a low profile may be the way forward for now?..we shall have to trust on this one I think...
