Today it's sunny here too. That's the way it has to be today - Germany will win the second soccer match and it's 19:40 now in Melbourne, 11.000 people are bound to see the concert of their lifetimes. And we will come back in 3 hours hoping for the first news :-)

Good morning, everyone! I am here and waiting for yet more reports. This has been a very unproductive week at work for me, and I doubt today will be much better. I am going to see Sting Monday night - I have 5th row tickets - and it is very difficult to get in the Sting frame of mind because of all the Yusuf excitement. Oh well, it is what it is, I guess - I must keep my priorities in order: Yusuf first, all other things come later!

I was one of the fotunate ones at the first show on Wednesday (Aus time!)... my computer has not been working this week, I would've got on here earlier! What an amazing experience! Do tell! Any photos? How were your seats? I love when people use the word "amazing" to describe seeing him live, because it truly is amazing. Well, where do I start? ;D My seat wasn't too bad, on the first tier, about halfway back from the stage. Almost the exact same seat as when I saw Eric Clapton last year! And yes, I took LOTS of photos. Will put some here when I work out how to do that! Amazing was one word that came to mind, but doesn't really do it justice. Yusuf was in fine voice, I felt his voice was even better than on shows like the "Cafe" DVD. He sang clearly, convincingly and still has "it"! He was in great spirits, joking about his picture on the front page of that day's The Age" newspaper - and how he looked really old (Get it? Age, old! ) At one point, the spotlight was moved off him (shouldn't have been) and he told the spot operator to "put that back on me, or I'll fire you!" ;D He spoke quite a bit between songs, which to me added greatly to the show. And the music? All the "hits" we've come to know and love, plus some of the newer songs. He did the preview from the musical, which cleverly made use of his vast catalogue, and what a blast to hear "Schoolyard" and "Matthew & Son" live - if only a snippet! So hard to pick a favourite - Tuesday's Dead had everyone singing along, and Yusuf and Co. clearly had fun doing it. He didn't do Waltzing Matilda this time, maybe it wasn't well received at the first shows? Noxshi opened the show, and I thought they weren't bad. Very different of course, but talented just the same. And Yoriyos has his father's sense of humour - joking that we had to cheer and sing along, otherwise he'd hear it from Dad! Funny stuff....and he dedicated a song to his mum too "I'm not sure if she's here yet, but she will be"

Wanbaugh thanks a million. :-*This time it seems our dear aussie mates didn't waste time in posting, and we are sooo thankful for that. Loved WALTZING MATILDA, and the audience sang along with no problem. I wonder if Yusufs buckup singer is an an Australian? Regi you answered my question, thanks. And yes I think this song suits Aluns voice to a tee. And I would like to say...Welcome back Christine, and SuzieQ, you have been greatly missed.

This thread, "Yusuf Downunder", has to be one of the greatest in the history of Majicat! If there is such a thing as the "Majicat Hall (or Wall) of Fame", then I'm nominating this classic to be placed there. I am enjoying all that is being stated and shown here by one and all... post by post and stitch by stitch. I see, I think, I learn, I laugh... I enjoy! ;D What a sensational thread you fashioned, Vicki... yup, a genuine hall-of-famer! -Bud

Thank you very much for all the great pictures and stuff, however I have a small request: would it be possible not to post oversized pictures on the threads, it messes up the whole layout when you use a lower screen resolution.

Signed: the middle-age presbyopic! Glaucus - I have been guilty of that myself. For me, the problem is the photo appears to be one size when I put it on Photobucket and then is giant sized when I post it here. Should we resize it to a certain size before uploading to Photobucket?

Bud, thankyou again. You have me blushing ;D Seriously, if it wasn't me, I'm sure some other wonderful majicatter would have done the same thing, but to be completely honest, I'm very happy I was the one who started the thread. I truly believe the first honour goes to Yusuf who decided it was time to tour again, then the second honour goes to all who have enthusiastically contributed to this thread. As you all know by now, Downunder has a very special place in my heart, and when I found Yusuf and his Roadsters were heading Downunder, I was counting the days with great anticipation. It bought to the surface of my heart, many memories of my life Downunder, and of course my first Cat Stevens concert in Melbourne 1972. I think we are all thrilled and very happy for Yusuf that the tour has been such a great success, and I know it will continue to be a success. Tomorrow Yusuf gives a speech at the Interfaith convention, I'm sure there will be many write ups in the press, which means the baord will be buzzing again. Can you all imagine what will happen here if Yusuf decides to tour the U.S, CANADA, EUROPE. The board will explode with excitment. ;D Lets hang onto that thought, and maybe it will eventually happen.

Should we resize it to a certain size before uploading to Photobucket? It's a shame that photobucket doesn't allow different size images to be shared like some of the other albums do. Smugmug and a few others offer 3- 5 different sizes to choose from. Photo bucket places the original size of the image up. So, if you can resize the image to smaller size to accommodate people who use smaller screen resolution that would be great. Jane, if you resize to about a width of 1,000 pixi, that should work for most of the people here.

Fantastic videos! thanks for posting. The only disappointing thing is that Remember the Days of the Old School Yard is a shortened version; I'd love for him to do the full version live. It is one of his most recognised songs after all. But even 50 seconds or so of it is better than nothing!
That Father and Son clip is potentially one of the best versions I've heard him do so far!
