Did anyone listening to Yusuf sing 'Father and Son' hear a touch of emotion in his voice. Sort of not in control, slight trembling or is it my imagination. It's at the begining og the song. Jane, I just don't know, what are we going to do with Rechina? What are the neighbours going to think? I suggest we give her a good dose of Yusuf in Melbourne videos that our friends so generously shared with us tonight. That should calm her down. Please take this all in jest girls. Just feeling a little homesick for Melbourne, and being in this silly mode, helps.

Thanks all around the house for posting the articles, reviews, videos, etc. So very much appreciated!! What an awesome show. The backdrops are even amazing. One thing you can definitely say of Yusuf/Cat, is he does/did everything in style - unbelievable. (well obviously there is much more than one thing you can say for Yusuf ) Can't wait to see Yoriyos dancing around the stage Thank you once again for taking the time to share with the have-nots ;D

Jane...it's not my singing you have to worry about (I don't sing loud), gurl...it's my dancin"!! ;D You know, "Shake yo booty, shake yo booty..." oops, that's somebody else. Don't care...if he does "Tuesday's Dead"....I'm toast!! Won't be nuthin' left but to dance to the music! Don't care what anybody says. For that few little minutes, I will be lost in my own world...y'all couldn't reach me anyway! Just leave me alone, it'll all be over soon enough! ;D Watch out, get ready, and stand back! Yusuf, y'all better hurry up and come to this side of the world before I have an absolute stroke! And Jane, I'm bringin' my tent and my ice chest! ;D What about the jambalaya?

Hmmm... that scene looks mighty familiar! That was a great review of the concert, lister, thank you! -Bud Would someone (maybe dear Bud?) please explain to me why "that scene looks mighty familiar"? I am once again, definitely, missing something because I was wondering why a hammock and umbrella were at a Yusuf concert... Feeling dim, ~Sun~ Sun - it's from the Foreigner album. Remember now?

It was a brilliant concert.
I have photos and yes, the photo of my son and I came up on the screen !!
It was a bit funny because they did not come up until half way through the song, I worried that they were not going to do it.
I have a photo of Yusuf in front of the photo of my son and I and, many more of just Yusuf.
I will post tonight, Australian time in the Melbourne Show Thread.
My, my, ... , what a fantastic gig.

Thanks to all the busy posters of reports, photos and vids ;-) Ooh what a night. More than 10.000 people for the first time after long, long years and Yusuf at his best! A video of "Ruby Love" would be marvelous - love this song too. It brings's back some nice memories of the first teenage loves. And the interdiction to sing love songs on stage seems to be lifted. I agree with Jane. He is YUSUF the former Cat and I love and adore Yusuf much more than cat. I like his reaction in the RAH, where he listed the names of the family cats after someone shouted out CAT :-)

Oh, my - thank you, Jane. You see, unbelievably, I don't own Foreigner ... but it's very obvious that it's about time I did. Thank you for enlightening me, Jane. ~Sun~ And he's singing about wanting to be in Jamaika, Mauritius et al. in this stage version of Tuesday's Dead and it really got a caribic sound now. That will be the song for "Shaking Richina" :-) It's one of the songs which - for me - are best in live performances.

Great videos, lister. The 60s medley really does show what many people here have mentioned, Yusuf's voice seems to have gone back in time. Those renditions could well have come from from the original records!

More idiots shouting how they want "Cat?" For crying out loud - he was gone for more than 30 years and comes back with a different name and some people are still stupid enough to expect Cat Stevens? How can one be a fan and not respect who he is today? I guess I expect too much sometimes. Gotta laugh at how protective you are, Jane. I know how you feel! I assume this is the quote you're referring to: While the mini-musical teased fans with snatches of Moonshadow and Father and Son Yusuf performed the songs in full in the concert's hit-filled finale which also boasted singalong favorites Morning Has Broken, Wild World (sung partially in Zulu) and Peace Train.
[The finale] also silenced those impatiently shouting ''We want Cat'' after new song Roadsinger. Hopefully, they finally realized that they got both Cat and Yusuf - afterall - he's one and the same, and you can't get one without the other. BTW, "Roadsinger" is one of my favorite songs, and the Australia/NZ release of the Roadsinger Album has been added to the rest of Cat/Yusuf's albums at yusufislam.com. "Boots & Sand" is now at home on the album, but no lyrics or sound clip so far. Does anyone know if the Roadsinger album was for sale at the concerts? Peace, ~Sun~ Glad I made you laugh! Yes, I am very protective (I think most of us here are.) This is just too reminiscent of the stuff that went on at the Dublin concert last November. The posters did not advertise a Cat Stevens concert, but a Yusuf concert. You want Cat? Listen to a CD. To expect that any musician is only going to perform their back catalogue is ridiculous. Also, it is just plain rude and disrespectful to shout out like that. This was a Yusuf concert, not AC/DC or Kiss. Well, now that I got that out of my system, I am going back to look at Marshall's photos again because they are wonderful! Oh, I ordered the CD from the link that was posted last week. I finally received confirmation today - a full week later - that the CD has shipped. Just over $20 for the CD and shipping combined from Australia, so not too bad. I'll probably never play it, but I just had to have it. The version of "Boots & Sand" that I like best is the way he sang it on Chris Isaak last year, and that is the way he sings it at his concerts. I have that audio track tacked onto a copy of Roadsinger so I have them all together. I never thought this old dog would be such a geek!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the videos I'll try to get more footage tomorrow night. I've posted all of my videos hereYeah, the rudeness of some of the crowd was a bit disappointing, but I didn't really notice it that much. I would have been over the moon if he just played material from his last 2 albums.
