Thanks Nancy for the articles. Sounds like a wonderful tour. How cool is it, that he is playing down under after just short of 40 years. I haven't seen anything on his New Zealand dates yet. ooooh.... I'm just a tad jealous again..

Don't be, Chris; I'll never see him here in Serbia, for instance.

I think we knew it wasn't part of a world tour, didn't we? Or least strongly suspected it. I think we will see more of these small trips by him, so even if he does come to North America, be prepared to travel to see him.
If I didn't see him twice last year, I cannot say that I wouldn't be planning a trip downunder right wbout now...

Here it is.. The Official Release (YI.com) of the down under concert tour (Blue Moon) Australia and New Zealand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Australian-NZ Tour Yusuf returns to the Australian Stage after 36 years and will tour New Zealand for the first time ever this June.
For a great many admirers in Australia it seemed unlikely that the artist they knew and loved as Cat Stevens would return to the stage and that his timeless songs would reach them in anything other than tribute shows. Never stop believing, as they say. Following his successful short Tour of UK and Ireland, he is decided to accept the offer made by Paul Dainty, his old promoter, to come back and tour again for his fans.
From his home in Dubai Yusuf said, I'm very excited to get back to Australia. There is a lot of history between me and my journey there. I was given some books on Rumi and Numerology in Sydney back in 74. It was all of part of my Road to Findout. I'll have the same band as my UK Tour, and Alun Davies will be with me again.
The dates are as follows:
Australia: PERTH ...Thursday 10 June @ Challenge Stadium; ADELAIDE ... Sunday 13 June @ Adelaide Entertainment Centre; MELBOURNE ... Wednesday 16 June @ Rod Laver Arena; SYDNEY ... Monday 21 June @ Sydney Entertainment Centre; BRISBANE ... Saturday 26 June @ Brisbane Entertainment Centre; New Zealand: AUCKLAND ...Tuesday 29 June @ Vector Arena; WELLINGTON ... Friday 2 July @ Westpac Arena; CHRISTCHURCH
Don't be, Chris; I'll never see him here in Serbia, for instance. Never say never, Milan. Even if not in Serbia, you may see him somewhere else. My dream came true - yours can, too.
I found in this article that maybe Yusuf will play two shows in Sydney and also two in Melbourne... or maybe I am wrong? "Yusuf will perform at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on June 16 and 18 and in mainland capital cities." "About 70 to 80 per cent of tickets sold here now are sold via the internet. I'm putting two shows on in Sydney and Melbourne from the get-go because we know from fans and their feedback and waitlists for tickets there is strong demand," promoter Paul Dainty said. tinyurl.com/2efjeq6
Today's announcement has been wonderful. I just bought 2 tickets for Sydney at a presale site I have purchased from before. There is a surcharge, but well worth it to secure seats.
Bring on June 21....it's going to be a dream come true....
Do you guys think he will ever come to North America? I am very pleased to see him going to Austraila, but the concerts are in two months which really isn't enough time for a 23 year old college student/walmart employee to save up enough money to go to the land down under. I just really hope he comes to North America sometime soon.
Do you guys think he will ever come to North America? Brandon, after all we've witnessed from this man in the last ten years, I'd say "anything's possible"! Keep your hope alive, hey, I'm 45 and I'm still hopeful!
I am really happy for you fans in Australia and New Zealand that as last you are now able to see Yusuf perform again. You will all love it, and I really mean that you will all love it. A lot of you will cry as he still has a beautifully voice. Must admit I cry at every Yusuf concert. Have fun.
believe me, that's just the opening of a wonderful new period I'm so happy and must admit a little jealous for all of you downunder and know exactly how you feel right now! Enjoy this excited anticipation and prepare for an incredible, unforgettable night with Yusuf. We were blessed to have two of them last year We from the other side of the world will be waiting to read your reports and watch your videos on YT Helen - I would accompany you to Cyprus - haven't been there for a long, long time (1994) and love this wonderful island so much. And a Yusuf concert over there would be something very special Gabi
All I can say I have been dreaming all my life that this day would come. Yusuf going Downunder!!!! WOW!!! This has brought back memories that are still very warm in my heart. I have been living in Greece since 1983, but as most of you know, I saw CS perform in Melbourne 1972, and thanks to my lucky stars, saw YI in London 2009. To all my fellow downunder friends, I am so, very, very happy for you.!!!!! We are all so fortunate!!!! Your time has finally come, and at last you will have the opportunity to see Yusuf, better known to all as Cat Stvens, in concert. Only the name has changed, but believe me, all the majic is still there. We were all swept away by his music and his prescence in the 70's when in concert. Prepare yourselves, because Yusuf is heading your way, with intent once again to capture your heart. For his devoted fans of the past, the concerts will be a very emotional experience reliving wonderful memories of the 70's Yusufs younger fans will be deeply inspired by his performance, and Yusufs eternal music will keep inspiring generations to come. Although back in 1972 CS played to 3 sellout concerts in Melbournes Festival Hall , thank God he is not playing there again. I remember the accoustics in that 'cattle shed' were just terrible. I see now he will be playing at an Arena which is very new to me. Looks grand, and the seating capacity is enormous. If he sells out two concerts at the 'Rod Laver Arena' it will be unbelievably amazing!!!! Can't wait to read your reports. For anyone who lives in Melbourne now downunder, is Ian 'MOLLY' Meldrum still around? He used to write for a pop magazine ,if I remember corrrectly it was called 'GO SET' , and he used to present a pop show on TV. Always watched it, and waited to see CS playing his guitar all in black, sitting in pure white, 'Father and Son' clip. Is that magazine still circulating? Collected every article on CS that was written in that magazine. Ohhh, those were the days!!!! ;D Live, and enjoy every moment, because this will be an amazing experience to treasure, one that will last for at least another 40 years!!!! ;D
Hi everyone Im soooooo excited. Yusaf coming here to Perth on June 10th - its like a dream come true. Thank you God. Love Margi xx I don't have to imagine the excitement you are all feeling, I know. I know exactly how you all must be feeling waiting for that long awaited dream to come true, that once in a life time 'Blue Moon' date. Yes, Yusuf will certainly take you to the moon, take my word. ;D Margi I'm happy and relievd that you write you will be seeing Yusuf perform in Perth. I was reading the comments on Yusufs official site, and someone from Perth wrote he was upset that he won't get to see Yusuf perform in Perth. I don't know if he meant it was booked out, or there was a change of plans for the concert in Perth. Do you know if the concert is already a sellout? If it is, I hope there will be a second one for all that miss out.
Well, I may not have any right to be envious, but I am anyway. Twice is simply not enough I hope those of you who are able to go make arrangements to meet other Majicatters. My only chance to see him back in the 70s was the Majicat tour and I was unable to see him as he came through the NY area in 1976. I had to wait 33 years for the dream to finally come true, and I can tell you that the evening of May 28, 2009 at Shepherd's Bush was most special because I was in the company of friends I had never met before that day. It is something I can not even really describe. These are not just concerts - these are very special events! Make them special - you will enjoy every minute of it! Jane
